I'm jtrying to get my PPC and phone talking to each other. I've tried about 6-7 different settings from various websites none of which work. Can anyone help me out please ?

I have an IPAQ h5550 running pocket PC 2003 prem, with w/outlook 2002.
the phone is a Nokia 6310i and I am on O2 100 contract. I live in the UK.

I need the full settings for the phone and for the IPAQ.

Trying to get them to connect so I can download internet/POP3 email via, bluetooth and GPRS/WAP.

Pllleeeeeeeas help if you can.

Thanks.

John

Unless your phone has at least 5.50 firmware, it may not work properly with your iPAQ - check by keying in *#0000# on the phone. The latest firmware is 5.60 - most Nokia Service Centres charge about 15 pounds to upgrade a phone that's out of warranty. In warranty, an upgrade should be free if you're having problems with it in use.

That said, the correct settings is to dial *99***1# and, as the extra dial up settings string (press the Advanced) button, use:

+CGDCONT=1,"IP","mobile.o2.co.uk"

Turn off the dialling rules feature if it appears to be on.

Does that work? If not, what do you see on the Pocket PC and the phone?

Great thanks, thats a bit help.

With the settings I have, and what you sent, the only difference was the phone number, I had *99#

My firmware is 5.22.

I can now log on, I get the 'G' next to my bluetooth sign on my phone, it connects, but won't give me any pages. I get the error message 'the page you are looking for cannot be found.'. This is on ALL addresses I put in.

Settings on IPAQ:
Bluetooth settings - this network connects to the internet - ticked
This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet - ticked
Proxy server: 193.113.200.200
Modem number *99***1#
User name o2wap
password - password
Advanced - baud rate 19200
wait for a dial tone before dialing - unticked
extra dial-string modem commands - +cgdcont=1,"ip","mobile.o2.co.uk"
Port settings - data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
flow control hardware
all other boxes on this page are unticked
tcp/ip user server-assigned ip address ticked
all other boxes on this page are unticked
servers - use specific server address - dns 193.113.200.200
alt dns 193.113.200.201

Phone settings
name o2 wap gprs
homepage http://mobile.o2.co.uk
session mode permanent
connection security off
data bearer gprs
gprs connection when needed
gprs access point mobile.o2.co.uk
ip address 193.113.200.200
authentication type normal
login type automatic
username o2wap
password password

Hope that helps

You are using WAP setting to access the Internet. Try the setttings here for E-mail / Web:

The phone's WAP settings are merely redundant in their mention, but the user name and password you're using on the iPAQ are WAP ones. The user name for O2 Mobile Web is supposedly "web" and the password "password" (in each case without the inverted commas), so I suggest you try that.

If you can't get it working with that user name and password, there's two possibilities. One is that your account hasn't got Mobile Web access enabled. The other is that the obsolete firmware on your phone is causing problems. 5.50 and upwards have significant improvements, 5.60 is the latest complete with Bluetooth security fixes. I intend to get my 6310i upgraded to 5.60 at the first opportunity.
