Hi all,
Been testing this GPS SD receiver for a few days now and my findings are so far that it takes ages to get a fix without the booster antenna... with is sometimes quicker... Another thing is that the battery runs down faster using a CF memory card... Compared to when I'm using my original Rikaline CF antenna and a SD memory card.
When using the CF mem. card and the SD gps receiver I had some problems in the beginning launching TOM TOM 3 started slow. Is there a difference of memory cards like first I used a normal 128 CF card after that an ULTRA CF mem. card and this seemed to be faster.
How about SD cards and or what type of card should I be using here?
Any comments are welcome.. I'm Belgian and new to this forum.. So haven't taken the time yet to read all reviews (sorry)
I drive a VW bora and reception of my CF antenna hasn't let me down so far. So how come the SD antenne is performing so poorly ?

Greetings Ralf

One thing you might want to consider is the fact that the SDIO interface does not have as wide a data path as CF does.

I know some ipaqs only have a 1 bit data path for SD, and mine (3950) has a 4 bit data path.

CF has 16 or something.

SO CF can move a lot more data more quickly than SDIO.

A GPS receiver moves very little data; the width of the data bus isn't likely to come into it. Almost every iPAQ from the 3900 series onwards supports 4 bit SDIO - though I think the 63xx iPAQ phones may be an exception.

There seems to be some kind of issue with the Globalsat SDIO GPS - though quite what is causing problems is something of a mystery.
