I was wondering if anyone has any experience using GPS AND a bluetooth handsfree instalation at the same time. As there are handsets/OSs that can handle it and others that dont. |

You don't say exactly what you're planning.
Usually PCs, laptops and Pocket PCs are fine with multiple simultaneous Bluetooth connections - so long as they're on different profiles. You can sometimes persuade a device to have two simultaneous Serial Port Profile connections - especially if one is incoming and one outgoing - but this is not always possible.
Mobile phones tend to be a 'one connection is it' sort of thing - particularly Nokia phones.
Bluetooth hands free kits and headsets, in my experience, always work with one device at once. If you use your hands free kit for audio from your Pocket PC, your phone can't use it.
If you post more details of what you're planning - particularly with brands and models of equipment - it may be possible to say whether or not it will work.

Hi David,
Sure, here is more detail
I was thinking of installing a bluetooth handsfree kit in my car. So that I don't have to upgrade it if I change my handset (typically once a year) and I can allways rip it out when I change car in 3 years or so. The intention is to pair up the mobile to the handsfree kit, but it doesn't end there.
At the same time I have been thinking of mobile-based GPS system. Which I would use in my car, but can easily be moved to other cars.
My question is: has anyone tried pairing simultaneously their mobile to GPS and to handsfree kit in their car? I cant find any references to handsets that can support concurrent bluetoth.
I have a discounted upgrade pending, so now could be a good time to change to a handset if my Nokia 7610 is not up to the job. |

Most if not all mobile phones can only operate with one Bluetooth device at once - certainly I believe this is true of all Nokia phones.
This is not the same with Pocket PCs - which are happy with multiple simultaneous Bluetooth connections.
Clearly, for what you propose, you'll need to find a mobile phone that is capable of running navigation software as well as simultaneous operation with both your Bluetooth GPS and your Bluetooth hands free kit. I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with the products available to be able to advise you.
