I've had some disappointing experiences with the voice guidance feature. It is often inconsistent in the interval at which it announces distance to the next turn. For example, while driving down a normal city street at about 25-30mph, the unit sometimes announces 1100 feet to the next turn and then does not announce the actual turn until after I have already made the turn or about 500 feet passed the turn. Sometimes, it will correctly announce a count down distance of 500, 200 feet and then to turn at least 100 feet before the turn. At all times, the satellite reception is quite good. To be more sucessful, I have to glance down at the text of upcoming turns. This practice is quite frustrating and hazardous.
I think the software should announce the intervals appropriately based on the speed at which you approach an upcoming maneuver.
I would say at 30mph, it should announce the next maneuver at 1000 and then 500 feet ahead. Below 20mph, a 200 feet announcement would be appropriate. |

I have noticed this too - it can be a little frustrating on complex roundabouts. I had a timtom GO and this had exactly the same problem.

I can understand how challenging it could be to call out directions on roundabouts or any routes with tight, consecutive turns. At best, the unit might say "turn right, then turn left". However, the unit even has consistency problems along straight streets.
I've seen in-car systems that have no problem giving proper voice guidance. |

I'm finding it absolutely fine. The voice commands happen at just the right time for me to react and even in areas where a few possible corners are all close to each other, the voice command tells me to turn just before I arrive at the one I want.
One feature I like is when there are two manouvres close to each other. The voice command will tell me to 'turn left, then turn left'. Great! |
