Today I decided I would like to get a navigation system and I found this site. I don't have a GPS system of any sorts yet and I am trying to decide what type of system to get (PDA-based or stand alone handheld other). I think the question may be answered easiest by knowing that I want the system that has the best mapping of the Czech Republic (not just Prague) which is where I will be living. It would be nice if it also covered some of the nearby countries (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, etc).
I know that the Czech Republic has been mapped, but I don't know who offers it; can anyone tell me what system/software should I get? |

Thanks, so does that mean that I should buy their software and that something like TomTom or Copilot would not work?
I see from other news on this site that Navteq has mapped the Czech Republic. Forgive me for my limited knowledge, but I assume this is a mapping company who then sells the data to companies that integrate this into their software like Tomtom, Copilot or this Pocketkim?
I can't read what is on the Czech website, so I'll have to find someone to translate. I'll assume that their software will probably work with any PDA and GPS hardware? In general is that a safe assumption? |

CoPilot or Destinator are best candidates to include the Czech Republic data (Destinator does already cover Hungary)
Yes, it's safe to assume that the software works with any PDA and GPS receiver _________________ Lutz

Looks like Route 66 do also offer maps for the Czech Republic. _________________ Lutz
