Hi,
I have been advised by my supplier to perform a factory reset of my Haicon 203E. I found the Leadtek Navigator on your site and just want to check it is safe to use this to perform a factory reset of my Haicom device.

Thanks

Georgdy

It's safe, providing you connect to the GPS and then go into the COMMAND menu and don't alter any of the settings under NMEA or SiRF and just select the FACTORY RESET option.

Not all cards though will wipe the Almanac and Ephemeris tables when you issue this command.

Any Haicom device in which the model designator ends with an E uses an Evermore chipset, not SiRF. I don't think Leadtek Navigator will work with an Evermore chipset GPS - at least not so far as configuring and resetting it goes.

There are one or two tools floating around that can talk Evermore's binary protocol and can issue commands to Evermore GPSes - but I suggest that Geordy asks his supplier which tool they recommend to factory reset the GPS, especially if he has no way of connecting it to a PC. Evermore aware utility software is far less common that SiRF utility software.
