|
|
I have done the 3.07 update on my Ipaq 3870 and am now a little worried I should not have done this.
I've seem all the other posts about it being mainly for the 6xxx series of Ipaq's and TomTom support advising people not to upgrade past 3.03 if you don't have one.
Does anybody know what might happen? My TT3 still works OK with the new update. |

TTN 3.07 is supposed to make address lookup faster - something everybody can benefit from. As long as you don't install GPS 3.07 you are fine. _________________ Lutz

Whats wrong with the GPS 3.07 driver?
I'm using it on my 2210 with no problems, since it was released. |

TomTom GPS drivers tend to block the BlueTooth stack, and to prevent other programs from accessing BT receivers, even when TomTom is not running. _________________ Lutz

So the 2.x drivers are still being used?
I've been under the impression the lock was solved with one of the later 3.x releases. I'll the the version 2 driver another go :D |

The lock is supposed to have been resolved with GPS 3.03 but we have heard mixed messages. Essentially you need to make sure that the original BT DLL is re-established, and the install/uninstall routines for TomTom GPS don't seem to always be successful at that. _________________ Lutz

Apologise in advance if this has been answered before, couldn't find the answer to my question below.
I downloaded the upgrade 3.07 and attempted to install it but on the last screen before it did the update it always shows both gps driver upgrade and the app upgrade. How can I upgrade only the app and not the gps driver.
If I understand the thread correctly, I will benifit from upgrading the application but not the GPS driver.
I'm running HP1940 with TT bluetooth gps and TT3 - UK.
Thanks,
Thor |

On the TomTom support side they have separate downloads for the program and the GPS driver. _________________ Lutz

They do, but when you try and install just the program, it installs the GPS too! _________________ Grant |

Indeed - they seem to have changed that. Someone please hold me back or I use strong words...
If you want to be on the safe side, run the installer WITHOUT a Pocket PC attached, and then copy the Navigator CAB file to the Pocket PC and run it directly.
I also keep a copy of the CAB files on the storage card, just in case I feel the urge to reinstall everything. _________________ Lutz

It's been a while since I checked this discussion board and realised I'm a bit behind as I'm still on version 3.01. However, from what I've read, I too am not sure if 3.07 is for me. I'm using an iPaq 3950, os version: Windows CE 3.0, Pocket PC v 3.0.11171. Can anyone advise? |

I have been using 3.07 on that same machine without problems. One would assume that it has fixed some of the 3.01 bugs. _________________ Lutz

I know 3.07 can stop some other GPS applications from running. But I have TomTom and nothing else installed on my ipaq. Are there any issues when other programs are not used? (I don't use bluetooth either) |

No. This affects only BlueTooth. _________________ Lutz
