Can any one please advise me if its possible to use tom tom maps and data on the navman icn 510. Ok i know what your saying, why didnt i buy a tom tom in the first place, well the navman is better(i think) but a friend has a tom tom palm system and has a map of france that i need and rather than spend a fortune getting regions i can have the whole of france at street level. Is this possible or should i just bite the bullet and purchase the navman maps |

Did your 510 come with the European Basemap? I think it is similar to Tomtom's Major Roads of Europe (MRE). While it obviously doesn't go down to street level, it might be enough for you. _________________ Tim |

Oh, I thought that the Basemap came with the UK package. Do you try to apply it from the Navman Desktop?
I have an email from Navman somewhere which confirms that you get the Euro basemap and UK ferries. _________________ Tim |

Aren't all the European street level maps on the CD that came in the box? From what I understand, you have to pay for an unlocking code to be able to then download the mainland euro maps. Shoot me if I'm wrong. |

I would expect that if you got four CDs, one for the app. and three for maps, then you are correct. If you only got one maps CD then I doubt that there is enough space to hold the maps for 16 countries on it. _________________ Tim |

Sorry, I am slow! So, I take it you only got two CDs? Can you tell what maps you have, judging by directory name? _________________ Tim |

Hi,
The pr-installed maps on your icn 510 will occupy about 124mb. The sd card supplied is 128mb, and the size of the European basemap is about 33mb. As you can see it won't fit, unless u delete some maps not required. eg Northern Ireland !!!!.
I purchased a 256mb sd card and did the following
a) backed up the card as supplied
b) inserted new sd card
c) installed all licensed maps via the desktop from the cd.
All fitted ok
MAPS for Europe will be available in two weeks from www.navman-store.com )new site).
Interesting wheeze for ICN 510, switch off from bat switch, hold down the 'wheel gizmo' ie pointing down and switch on maintaining the wheel in a down position. Gives u access to the bios etc.
NB deleting maps from the the SD card does not free the space up, u need to write directly to the card via a usb card/reader writer. then use windows disk manager to clear out the dross.
now to sort out gatso poi's and an appropriate icon and sound
regards
