just got a ipaq and bluetooth,advice on walks req

can anyone recommend any software (free or commercial) i can load onto the ppc that has walks round the dales/lakes etc which gives you turns etc (like tomtom is for the car)....pls no technobabble

Not really.

Maybe you will be able to get saved tracks from people that have done that tour already, but even then most of the navigation needs to happen in the area between the ears.

The program will show you where you are relative to the track, but it won't tell you "walk 1000 steps and then turn 180 degrees" etc.

I'd like to stress that I have never tried these (I'd be interested to hear of anyone that has) but globalpositioningsystems.co.uk lists a set of 1:50000 OS maps for the UK on 4 CD's:

These can be downloaded to a Pocket PC and give your position. They won't do turn left/turn right but they look very nice.
