[?]Upgrading iPAQ Navigation system 1.2 (3970) to CoPilot V5

I have an iPAQ 3970 PDA based Navigation System V1.2 running CoPilot V3.1.5UK and using the original type of NAVMAN sleeve (the only visible markings on it being 2-4-A-52-1437).

I now would like to update the system to run CoPilot V5 (or TomTom) but before committing myself to buy either one I'd like to be absolutely sure that the new versions will operate OK with the old NAVMAN sleeve - or do I need to buy a new sleeve as well?
