I had read on this forum that some people were experiencing locking up problems with the iPAQ 2210 and TT3 whilst using an SD card to store maps etc. I was having the same problem using a 512mg Kingston SD card. After planning a route, TT3 would lock up after about 5 minutes and would only restart after a soft boot. I had read somewhere that there may be a locking up problem using SD cards with TT3 and that Compact flash cards were more reliable. I tried using an IBM 1gig microdrive CF II card that I normally use in my digital camera. After installing all the software onto the card - TT3, maps, camera database etc, I went out last night and tried the new set up. I drove for about 45 minutes with no lock ups at all and everything working fine. I hope this is of some help to others out there experiencing the same problems. :D |

The 2210 / SD Card lock up issue only affects BT Receiver users. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well, all I know is that since I've changed from an SD to a CF card, I've had no problems. Before with the SD card, the system was totally unusable as it would lock up after 5 minutes or less every time.

I normally use Kingston CF card (Thanks to Darren's advice) and do not experience any problem at all. I also have a Kingston 512 SD card so I thought I had a go to see what happens: I did not experience lockups but got frequent drop-outs (beeping telling you "position unreliable"). It recovers fairly quickly though. I am using TomTom BT GPS. |
