I followed the advice on these pages and purchased Sprite backup a few months ago. Every couple of weeks I do a complete backup onto my SD card, and then usually delete the previous one so that the card doesn't become full.
Fortunately I haven't needed to restore yet, but if I did have to do a hard reset, would the Sprite backup program still be there to enable me to restore from the SD card?
Also, earlier backup files were about 19Mb, but the one I did today is only about 10Mb. All the boxes were ticked when I selected what to back up. Any idea why?

If you have selected the backup to self-extractiing (in options), the backup will extract and restore itself, even without sprite backup installed.
I'm not sure about your 2nd querie. It may be that you have not previously enabled compression. |

Yep, the beauty of using the self extracting option is it just creates an EXEcutable file (.exe) and it has a mini version of Sprite Backup installed so when you tap the EXE from any Pocket PC it will automatically start restoring.
Regarding the second query. Not sure. It sounds like you may have had other files on the Pocket PC Storage area (main memory) and these are no longer there, OR you had an application running in background and hadn't closed it so it couldn't back this up.
Make sure you are using some Task Manager program like WisBar. This way you can see the hidden tasks in background memory and manually close these before doing your backup. |

I have a Query regarding Sprite backup that some kind soul may be able to answer although it may be an operating system thing! : when I perform a back up I get the message: "Backup complete with warnings "..On opening the backup report I get :
Warning : sharing violation for \ program files \ sprite software \ sprite backup \ pocketmon.dll
Warning : sharing violation for\tomtom\tttoday.dll
Warning : sharing violation for\windows\batmemtime.dll
Warning : sharing violation for\windows\monitor.exe
Warning : sharing violation for\windows\ttbtdev.dll
Although restores are performed OK from the BU There must be somthing amiss
cheers

In the Backup Options menu, do you have a tick in the 'Stop processes before backup' box? _________________ Tim |

You will get errors on alot of the Today plug-ins because they're running in memory and I don't believe they can be closed (only unselecting them and soft-resetting will stop the process), so don't worry too much about these.
The TomTom file is the gotcha, and that's because you have TomTom ~ GPS installed, you really don't want this installed and others have come unstuck when doing a restore. |

I had previously uninstalled TomTom~gps in order to get Follow me to work ! I thought I may have put it back when I performed a Restore but can find no mention of it in explorer although theTT gps icon does show in the programs screen and does launch the application !Any idea how to locate and destroy |
