Hi all

I am new to PDA's, I am new to computers, in fact lets just assume I was born yesterday.

I have a Medion MDPPC250. It was all going great until I went down the M6 toll and the software thought I was flying through space. AHA I thought, the software is old and needs updating.

How do I do this?

The GPS software was already installed on the little plastic memory card that came with it and I have never needed to install the disk data on my PC. Is this needed?, is it upgradable at all anyway?

If anyone can help please explain it in an idiots guide kinda way as I am really really just begeining to find my feet with this new techno stuff.

thanks all

Spooky the techn00b Wink

Hi there,

there are two big companies out there that do the map surveying (NAVTEQ and TeleAtlas) and they do not allow any tampering with their map data. Medion (who are rebadging the program from Navigon) have to decide when and how much they want to pay for that map data. They then compile the maps that you are using.

Now for the M6. Navigon have compiled your map data before the M6 was ready for public use. That's why you are flying through space.

As outlined above, there is nothing you can do about that, apart from waiting for the next version of your maps that should come out sometime next year. Expect to pay for the map update, because Navigon are also paying for that to NAVTEQ.

You as the end user cannot edit the maps, particularly not add new roads. What you can do is set avoid areas on existing roads (for example when a road has been closed after the map was compiled).
