Hi All
Anyone ideas on this problem.
I noticed that I had lost all listing of my favourites, and as I had only backed up two days ago I thiought it would be easy enough just to restore which I had hoped would give me back my favourites.
I have restored from Active Sync, which at the end says that the iPAQ must be soft restarted, which I did. Unfortunately it locks up in the restart screen when the blue bar gets to the right hand side. I then did a hard reset, and another restore, only to get to the same situation. Can anyone suggest help without reinstalling all of the programmes and settings which I had just got right.!!!
Also is the Active Sync backup/restore ok, or are thier better programmes for this.
Thanks for any help

Hi there,
This is a well documented problem with backup and TT3. It's caused by the TTBTDEV.dll file.
If you do a restore and untick the TTBTDEV.dll file first (Windows Directory), you'll find that it restores okay without this file. This will only be of help to you if you do not use a BT receiver as TTBTDEV.dll is the bluetooth driver. You may or may not then be able to add the TTBTDEV.dll file manually later as your next soft reset may again result in the same problem you have now. Some have succeeded, some not. If you have a wired GPS, then you don't need it.
If you download the latest version of Sprite, you'll find that you can backup and restore fine with TT3 including the TTBTDEV.dll file. Try it on evaluation first. You only have to pay after a couple of weeks and even then, it's only five dollars for the basic backup software - a genuine bargain.

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply.
How do I uncheck TTBTDEV.dll
I am in Active Sync, and select Tools, Backup/Restore. Restore, which is in Guets file, and does not give me the option to do a slelctive restore.

Aah - sorry. Haven't done an Activesync restore. Wasn't aware that it was a once and for all restore. Had assumed it would be the same as ipaq backup which is an old version of Sprite and enables file by file restore.
Hopefully somebody may be able to help further. Otherwise, it's a full rebuild I suspect.

Steve
Thanks for your help.
I will carry out a full rebuild and then get the latest version of Sprite as you suggest to avoid this problem in the future.
Have you any idea why TT3 lost my "Favourites" in the first place, it started up as if it was the first time it was being used.
Thanks
Alan

I never used to have this prob (the ttbtdev.dll error) and could happily restore from backups (SD card or Microsdrive) without locking up. However, my latest backup gives me problems and I needed to untick ttbtdev.dll to get the restore to work. Then of course TT doesn't work coz I have BT GPS.
The only thing i can think of is that my older backups were before I did the "uninstall BT GPS driver once" process - you know that you need to uninstall the GPS driver twice to really get rid of it but uninstalling it once can get rid of some probs and keeps your BT receiver working. I only recently did that and wonder if any other people getting lockups on restore had also uninstalled the GPS driver once?
Just a thought. Hope it makes sense? _________________ Rgds,

I seem to think that favourites are retained in the 'Tomtom Navigator Settings' file which is usually stored on your SD or CF card.
If this file was disturbed, that may well explain your loss. I prefer to keep a 'Friends & Family' POI file and save a copy on my PC with all my other POI files. The only favourite I use is 'Home'.
Make sure you get the very latest version of Sprite as the support for TTBTDEV.dll is very recent. I have v3.0.1, build 1676, which works fine. A bargain at just over 3 quid.

I also experienced the lock-up after backup restore. It's nice to know the reason, but cannot find the sprite prog to buy.
My searches end up with cars, caravans, drinks etc. Could you please post the link needed.
I have TT3, iPAQ 2200 so would I be right in getting sprite to cure the prob and if so are there instructions on how to use it once purchased?
Thanks |

Its easy to use. If you can use the bundled backup software you can use this. Their website seems pretty comprehensive with plenty help avail if needed

Yes - works for me with the below listed equipment. Takes less than a minute to do a full restore.
