Hi had to register here just to reply to this
Received my car mount from Seidio last week and also had the same problem (intermittant charging), after removing the base cover have noticed that that 2 wires which supply power to the pda have been spliced so that the power is also re-routed to the power Led.
Where the wires have been spliced there is no insulation and these are grounding themselves on the built in speaker 8O
This is extremely poor quality wiring that no decent manufacturer should even contemplate.
You may want to check yours for a similiar problem
Regards

Although I like the fact that the Seidio g2500 functions as advertised, I wish that quality was also one of their foremost marketing features.
I'm not quite happy still w/ the replacement PowerCord- i wish that they would replace it w/ a far more better quality cig lighter power cord (and rid of that 'coil' wires!!, and maybe add a on /off switch).
Speaker is sufficient, but could be better.
Mounting peripherals- yes the suction cup is getting lose (the lever that 'locks' into place is loosening as if stretching from the base of the suction cup itself- i know that soon it will give up!) So I'm looking for alternative mounts where i dont have to use the arm (dont like the vent mount all too much- limits the use of the vents). Are there any 'universal' mount that i can purchase that would fit the Seidio bases?
W/ all the cons, there are good pros w/ the unit.
My 'charging' hasn't failed.
I'm able to charge the BT GPS from the unit itself.
It has a 'clean' appearance, although i wish the dark grey was avail when i purchased this- kinda clashes w/ the car.
Allows me to watch movies also in the car being that it is powered and can be angled different ways (no i dont watch while driving, only at my lunch hour.)
here's a pic of my set up:
