Yet another clueless newbie - sorry!!!

Hello everyone.

Firstly I apologise if this post is a waste of anyone's time but I really can't find the answers to my naive questions!

Facts - I have a Palm M515 running OS 4.1
I am being given a Navman GPS500

Observations - The screen shots I have seen of the Navman software that comes with the unit don't look too great and I understand that maps may be out of date.

Questions - What is the bestest software that I could run on the set-up to enable me to get/use better maps (if this is how the decent mapping is obtained!)???
What are the best Maps that I could go for? I ideally would like the 3D kind of graphics as they do look the most user friendly

Any feedback would be much appreciated
