People keep talking about not buying Cheap SD memory - but when I look at some sites like Ebuyer.com - most of the brands of SD card they sell are nearly the same price - give or take a few quid.
e.g. Viking, Kingston, Kingmax, PNY, Memorex and Lexar are all between £22 and £28 (+VAT) - so does this mean that Lexar is OK cos it cost £28 but Kingston isnt because it only costs £22 ??

Then you have places like http://www.valuemedia.co.uk/SD_card.htm selling High Speed SD Cards - are these really faster or is it just marketing hype? Is it worth paying the premium for a High Speed card? Will it make my TomTom run faster?

Any advice appreciated - as I dont want to buy end up with crap memory and then come on here complaining that my iPAQ keeps locking up!

Anything manufactured in Japan seems to be working nicely. Panasonic, Lexar etc. Stuff manufactured in China is more prone to lockups and slow performance.

(Note: This statement is exclusively for SD cards!!!)

Ebuyer.com are doing a Fuji SD 256MB card for just £33.65 including delivery. The free delivery option shows it can take a week but I got mine within 2 days by Citylink courier.

Quickfind code:42180

I checked the packaging and it is definitely made in Japan - so should be OK with PDAs.
