To all the ones who hesitate.
I just came yesterday from a journey of about 3500 KM starting from Austria and then Germany , Holland , Belgium ,France ,Germany again and back to Austria.
using tomtom was so easy and took me to all the places and hotels without a single problem.
Well only one small thing ,on the highway in Germany while driving 200 km(it´s OK in Germany) suddenly Jane wake up and told me to turn left and then right , off course i didn't listen to her otherwise i wouldn't be here writing those lines.I have no idea why this happened.
other than that everything was perfect and the money i paid for this software was 100% worth it.
I made a similar trip a year ago without any navigation and it was hell finding all the places i wanted to , this time tomtom and teleatlas saved me so much time and i thank them very much for that and for the good work they have done.
I have recently completed a 2,000 mile round trip through France and into Switzerland with TomTom and on the whole it was a very positive experience. It certainly gave us more confidence to head into towns and cities without the aid of street maps (apart from those useless things in the back of road atlases). It found our hotels and car parks without incident.
One "feature" of TomTom Navigator 3 is a change to the way it deals with you going "off-piste", where the road you are on is not present in the map data. It will now assume you are on a minor road heading towards the nearest road in its map. This will, among other things, allow it to plan a route while parked on your driveway if you are a little way off the road (previously you'd get a "route will be calculated when position reliable" or somesuch). It'll start with "turn right" to get you going from the end of your drive. The trouble is that when you are on a road not in the maps, such as the M6 Toll road, you get a stream of instructions to turn left or turn right as Jane tries to get you on to roads she knows rather than being patient and waiting until you are truly back on a mapped road. Ithink you saw a variant of this, as I did in France. If the map data is a little way out (as it is on the A39 south of Dijon), Jane thinks you've gone off-piste and will tell you to go left or right towards where she thinks the road is.
