Hi,
Thinking of switchng from TomTom 3 to Navigon 4, but the forum states that there is an upgrade (which reduces the price). When I looked at the is I get the German wording..
"Updates & Upgrades
Dieser Bereich ist geschützt und nur für registrierte Kunden erreichbar.
"
An online translate said "Updates & Upgrades this range f is gesch?zt and only? registered customer attainable." Which does not help..
As a non German speaker, I have no idea what this means.. Help please _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Simon
I had a similar problem, firewall was blocking traffic, which meant I could not see upgrade option. "Trusting" Navigon on firewall meant traffic got through and I was able to place order. Hope this helps.
Now just waiting on delivery date. 8) |

yes, upgrade price is E99 from TomTom. I am awaiting my upgrade - takes about 4 weeks apparently.
Go to navigon UK website then to shop and upgrades, you should get an drop down menu where you can select your software.
You then need to click on detail information and then it brings up the add to basket ikon and you can add GPS mouse, TMC module if you want.
You also have to send off your original software to them before they'll send the upgrade - there's a form in German on the website
They are slow to reply to e-mails, better to phone them - got straight through.

Thanks everyone. turned off my firewall and hey presto..
€99 is not expensive, but the only reason I wanted to upgrade was for TMC, which pushes the cost to €378, which seem sa bit steep, when for €49 a year (plus GPRS) I get it with TomTom.. Some hard thinks needs to be done here before I fork out £200.00 notes on something I already have the functionality.
As to sending back the Program (TOMTOM) seeems a little excessive, why not the registration certificate?
Thanks Everyone anyway. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

You are a funny man Simon! I think you have just answered your own question/statement as to why they want everything returned....
Or just to avoid any assumptions, why not for a cross-upgrade? |

Seems to work so far !
Ordered upgrade from website on 23rd July.
Recieved confirmation email and request for old Software on 24th, which was dispatched by post (signed for deliverly) same day.
Recieved goods 10 days later.
All now assembled with UK map working, (not been able to test UK TMC yet!)
Loaded pre defined France map ready to test this weekend.
Cant seem to load custom map, also Medion / Navigon goes into a loop when I try to change maps on the same card. "you have changed maps - reboot" (Do reboot, try again, get same message!!!)
Will try to sort out when back from France
Thanks to Jean - Paul for his article which tipped me over to the buy decision. |
