Hi

Slightly off topic but... I have an Ipaq 4150 which has only the SD card slot (which I use to store my TomTom maps). I also have a Nikon D100 digital camera which uses the Compact Flash cards. What I was wondering was if there was a way I could view the images from the D100's CF card on the Ipaq, ideal for when on location to quickly show clients their images etc. Is there a converter or something which would allow me to insert the CF card into the Ipaq??.

Any help would be most helpful!

Richard

The CF card also has all the drive logic in it, whereas the SD card is pretty dumb. So technically it is easy to do a CF card with a SD slot in it (and there are a few out there) but it's quite tricky to do it the other way round.

You could use a card reader on your PC with both slots to copy the data over from CF to SD... but it certainly doesn't help on the road.

The older iPAQs don't have that problem - they can use the CF Jacket...

can you get PCMCIA SD readers/writers? Just that for my laptop that'd be ideal.

Oh well there are two other options for you:

Upgrade your camera to a Canon 1D Mk II (Only 4 grand or so plus replacing all your lenses Rolling Eyes ). It uses SD and CF cards.

Upgrade to a Nikon D2H with a Wi-Fi add on module. Set up a Wifi network between your PDA and camera.

On reflection, perhaps a new PDA would be better/cheaper Mr. Green

Seriously though, have you considered the wired (USB) approach? I use palm so do not know how you could try this on Pocket PC but you never know.

Rich33 - This item may be of interest to you. I just found it on ebay and seems to cover your needs:-

If you've got your laptop with you, this

http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_4_402&products_id=86484

may help (and is much cheaper!).

Got one myself some weeks ago for copying large files to/from my PDA memory cards, rather than much more slowly with both cards in the PDA!

Also, on this page

http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=777_4_402

are other adaptors for memory cards, but I've not spotted anything PCMCIA that does both CF and SD.

PS Check the 'Clearance' and 'Specials' pages as well!

PPS No! - I don't work for this company! - I'm just a satisfied customer!!

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your advice.

Philip4242 - couldnt see the first item you spoke about, but the second, the Hama 12 in 1 looks like it might just do what I want! Although it still means carrying the laptop around.

Once again, many thanks for all the help, as always on this site!!

Apology for my earlier post did not show the weblink.

The adapter I have found is minolta sd-cf1 card. Its a CF card which has a slot for an sd card.
