Toshiba e330 problems with gps

My Toshiba e330 worked fine with my Tom Tom navigator 3.
On the 3rd time I used it it started getting connection problems with my gps mouse (sirf 2) and broke the connection while functioning. \
The vendor replaced it for a new gps unit with carcharger (which seemed the problem). That day it worked fine. \

But now it has quit completely and does not 'see' the gps unit anymore.
The vendor tried serveral new units, nothing worked.

He suggests the com port might be broken.

Do you recognize this problem or can you advise me?
