I've been using Nuvi 57 LM sat nav for some time now, given the traffic roadwork issues these days what are the option for live traffic feeds for UK road network?
I've attempted to find more info from Garmin but became bamboozled by the terminology plus several links to new Dat Navs costing £100's.
I've found there is my model with traffic 57 LMT anyone on the forum using another Garmin Sat Nav that could be a further step up? |

When Garmin discontinued their traffic via the TA cable I was forced to use their Smartlink app instead.
At first I was unsure because my previous Smartlink experiences had used viaMichelin data that was hopelessly wrong. They were quick enough to add roadworks but gave no method to inform when the roadworks ended.
One one occasion the M4 had minor crash barrier repairs that lasted 3 days. They were still showing 6 months later.
The reason this was a problem was that the Garmin seems to have a max data buffer. I can't remember whether it was 200 or 500 but in London the sheer number of roadworks in the viaMichelin data was filling the buffer so on-the-go live traffic events were not being picked up.
Fortunately, when Garmin turned off TA traffic they seemed to switch this Smartlink provider to Inrix as the traffic data has been spot on.
I have been using both the 2599 and subsequently the DS61. Both of those models have the right side traffic bar that shows all traffic hotspots for your entire journey. The latest Garmin's don't seem to have this bar so I haven't changed to a newer unit. _________________ DashCam:

Thanks, really helpful reply. I'll look around for used versions of both units. I do need to link to a smart phone to obtain Traffic info?
I'll have get one and get out of the 20th century. |

What's a shame is I don't use my Garmin's anymore.
I just keep them charged in a cupboard.
My new car has Android Auto and Google Maps via my phone and navigation is better than Garmin. More relevent instructions when you're in strange territory, as I am now, moved a month ago. _________________ DashCam:
