Incidentally, my street name also shows as correct on the Royal Mail finder, but wrong on their map, also the AA maps, the ordnance survey maps and of course, the Navman Teleatlas maps. Yet my street has the name correctly posted at the corner and the Royal Mail obviously agrees with us as to its name.
It may be that there is some error which has nothing to do with Teleatlas but has been perpetuated by some early mistake, like in our case.

Not at all. From my understanding, the name of our street has remained the same for about 50 years AND the Royal Mail recognise the postcode and street name which, afaik, is the final word on it.
The problem stems from a small spur road which comes off of ours with a different name, and that is the name that all the maps use to the end of our road, after which the name is correct again. I can only assume that some jobsworth got it wrong in OS mapping and no-one's ever changed it as it's a small cul-de-sac.
As far as the Royal Mail is concerned it shows the correct address as 65 Thorntree Gill, Peterlee, when using the Postcode SR8 4SR. As Simon1 say he has a Street name sign which gives the name of his Road as Thorntree Gill and this has been there for years so why should the likes of TeleAtlas, Navman be right???
Isn't it about time that these companies paid a little more attention to detail and corrected their data, let's be fair they're making enough money out of us
