I sucessfully downloaded the Europe - Western map, but any attempt to try and download the full W & CE 2GB map is met with the error message "Error from server: The connection to the TomTom server timed out" in TT Home.
I assume everyone who has sucessfully downloaded a new map has downloaded one of the smaller "Western" or "Central" segment maps? |

Just noticed this message on the TomTom support page;
Important Information
Time Out Error Message
We are currently experiencing an error in HOME when downloading maps.
You may see the ‘time out’ error message. We are investigating this urgently, try again later.
http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9863/?locale=en_GB
It is just above the "Error 1008 after updating GO x40 LIVE" message which is still there! |

Shall we run a book on which one gets fixed first?
Having said that, given Tomtom's recent form, I wouldn't wager my money on either. |

I downloaded my new UK & Ireland map in just a few minutes perhaps not many have that map relative to the Europe group so its server maybe able to cope OK. For those who think it maybe a problem with their ISP just do a broadband speed test.

Just downloaded the full W & CE 2GB map, 14 minutes from start through update and install to completed. Thats on a BT Business Broadband with 5MB/s download & 2.5MB/s upload. Certainly not a TT server overload there. _________________ Graham.

After down loading and installing the new UK/ROI map the map share indicator in TT home say "Your map has not been updated for more than 20 weeks. Unfortunately Map Share tm map corrections are temporarily not available"
Is this normal |

I have that as well so its not just you.
In the past after installing a brand new map it always seemed to give a similar message but now it adds the bit about map corrections not being available. Its almost normal TT as nothing ever goes as it should do and this is just the quirk for a new map and having no map updates. |

STILL waiting for BT to come & repair our phone line, I think if I were to try & download it, I'd be dead & buried by the time it finished downloading.
Max speed so far today 33kbps. _________________ Be alert.. This country needs more lerts. |

Hi
I got the server error too. After it refused multiple times, my solution was to navigate to the tomtom temp folder and delete all the files it contained.
After that the next time I started the update it was working again.
However, Apart from the interuptions for travelling to and from work I have been trying to complete this download since 10 am yesterday, total downloaded sofar, 583 MB out of 1.77gb !
SO I guess it will be another 3 days at this rate.
Have you noticed everyone is struggling to download the update Then Tomtom email everyone telling them about it being available. |

2215 02 September and at last Tomtom have fixed the problem. No more server timeouts.
W & CE map dowloaded in about 30 minutes after 3 days.
Hope thats a global fix and I am not just lucky! _________________ Tomtom Go 6200, Tomtom GO Android app, Garmin GPSMap 62stc, Garmin Oregon 450, Memory map V5 & V6, Moto G6, CamerAlert, Copilot Premium, MM Tracker. |

I spoke to TomTom yesterday about the map updates. Having been told it was a connection error my end they finally admitted that they had a server error with the new maps. They have not got a fix for it yet so expect a long wait for the download. Tomtom at their best again! You would have thought after their last download release that did not work that they would be a little more careful, clearly not. Tomtom 950 Live. |

I'm on Virgin 50mb. The WE maps came down at around 47mb/sec. I'm now doing the whole of WE&C Europe onto an SD card and that's coming down between 35 and 35mb/sec. |
