Agreed. If the patch only does what the website says then I won't be installing it any time soon! However if it fixes some of the issues as discussed in the bugs thread then I might actually go and find my USB cable.
Has anyone who has installed it noticed if any of the bugs have been fixed? Specifically for me the 100% cpu bug (bloody hot device) and the map scrolling when using user defined POI's that are visable on the map.

I spy with my little eye, something that has changed in V5.21....
ahhhh the version number
Have I missed the other changes, VGA mode no improvements, address look no improvement.
If this is the best TomTom can do I will not be upgrading to V6, if they ever release a new version |

As I mentioned in the other thread it depends on where you look, they are still listed on the page for Navigator 5 Bluetooth.

You are right - I looked on the wired compatability list. _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

From cold. I started my stopwatch as I tapped on Tom Tom, on the main screen of my PDA. and it locked on to 5 sats in 36 seconds and by 45 seconds I had 7. A big difference from the previous 4 to 5 minutes.

On my Ipaq I never had the several minutes wait. A few seconds and I had a fix - so what else is fixed? |

Biggest change I can see is that I don't have to do a soft reset every time I turn my Mio 338 off.
Had to go back to V3 the other day as the soft reset button came off the PDA 8O V5 is *much* better looking than V3 and so much faster!
Typically it was while I was out and about in an area I'd never been before... must get round to soldering it back on... |

I run the Palm version and the automatic recalculation after diverting from the original route is much better. It actually picked the correct alternative rather than keep trying to get be back onto the A12 this morning. |

How long should the update take to install? It started over 2 hours ago and is still running? Should I cancel and start again?
I am using Active Sync. |

Depends upon your physical connection speed, i.e. serial port or USB, but either way it should take less than a minute. _________________ Kam |

I gave up, cancelled it and started again and it took about 30 seconds. Not sure what happened the first time. |

When I installed mine the activesync dialog appeared under the setup screen asking about default directory and it was a couple of min's before I spotted this, when I clicked OK the installation finished. _________________ www.gadjetsblog.blogspot.com |

Mine installed easily. I chose to install to the SD card rather than the default memory position. It installed in about 30 seconds or so. All works just fine. A lot of my old favourites re-appeared. Works smooth enough. |

Well that was a pile of shite. I installed the update making sure to pick that I wanted it installed to my SD card. It installed to main memory Then when I tried it the main bug hasn't been fixed whereby if you have custom POI files and display them on the moving map the screen goes all jerky. Stupid TomTom. I think I might look at other sat nav systems next year. I hear some of the stand alone devices not made by tomtom can be quite good! _________________ http://www.durrans.com/cardspeed/ - Flash Card Speed Tests

Lutz,
Are you saying I can use OzVGA to increase the size of the compass?

Setup installs in RAM despite selecting Built-in Storage... please can someone advise how to extract the cab file so I can use cabinstl.
Cheers
