on the Nokia 6260 (Symbian S60).

asuming from your thread that you have the 6260,

thinking of getting it, but can you confirm for me, does it take mmc or

rsmmc?

have conflicting info from different places

yes I have it. it takes rs-mmc and the manual states that you need a dual voltage rs-mmc. however, after som ionfo on a symbian forum, i bougt the old (non dual voltage) card, which was abt 50 € for 512 MB as the dual voltage of same size would have been abt. 130 €

the cheaper works all right. no problem. on the symbian forum the explanation was that another newer phone (with a different "engine") needs the dual voltage version, and Nokia wants people to buy the newer cars, so that they are compatible with newer models. I don't know wheter thats true, but on newer should by today technology which is compliant with the needs of tomorrow, since
1) it probably will not be compatible and
2) even if it is, you get more for your mone when you buy current and not tomorrows tech

the rs-mmc cards come with an "adapter", actually a plastic and metal extension to the card, which makes it possible to read and write in ordinary mmc card readers/writers

anybody have anything on the sound conversion?

I have posted a quick quide to converting old TTN3 files to TTN5 before,

Converting the files to work on TTM5 is basicly the same apart from oggdropXPd needs the encoding options set to 16000 Hz,

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=23040

Have a read,

Carl,

Carl,

sorry, been on holidays

the address is http://www.mikropuhe.com/mikropuhe.asp#

however, it only does Finnish, or actually Finnish phonems.

Writing English (correctly) doesnt really get you any understandable results, but writing phonetically "hellou, hav aar juu", gives this Finnish accent English :D

the Donald Duck is done by cheking "Aku Ankka" (Donald Ducks Finnish name version)

I've now got the Yoda and Vader voices working, but I downloaded a rar file with several other voices in, is there some way to convert them so that they work on 6600.

The voices are:
Arnold Swarzenegger
Austin Powers
Clint Eastwood
Homer Simpson
Joanna Lumley
Ozzy Osbourne (Bleeped)
Ozzy Osbourne (Swearing)
Patrick Stewart
Sean Connery
Sharon Osbourne

I would particularly like Homer giving me directions Smile
If anyone wants these, I got them off newsgroups, but I could email to anyone who wants a crack at converting them.

PS. Been a member here for a while, but lost my account details so had to re-register.

I could work on converting them if you'd like to send me them, (PM me for e-mail),

TTM5 requires a different bit-rate to the PPC version,

Carl,

After receiving the files, I have found that they are in VIF format,

VIFTOOL has so far been unable to extract these files (The files that are created are just gibberish),

Anyone know of an updated version of VIFTOOL?

Or know of another way to extract these files?

Carl,

Darth Vader and Yoda work fine on 7710 including the pictures.

John Cleese sounds crap, as though he is in slow motion whilst gargling !!

Anybody got any other good ones ?

have tried to convert some of these as well but either viftools is not working properly or more likely the files have been recorded differently because viftools will work with other files ok Confused

Update,

I have contacted the author of viftool,

It would seam that the windows version of viftool.exe file doesn't work when splitting files,

When run under the python interpreter, he says it should work,

I have looked at the python code, but didn't understand 1/2 of it, (I know VB, thats about it),

Does anyone know python? So they can extract the files?

Carl,

Another update,

I have found what the problem is,

When creating the ogg files, viftool inserts linefeeds, but on the windows version is also adds carrage returns,

I've created a small VB to remove the extra CR's and am working on the convertion's,
