Press release: Location Based Technologies’ PocketFinder Wins Gear of the Year Award from PC World Magazine

Anaheim,CA--Location Based Technologies (OTCBB:LBAS) have announced its PocketFinder® personal locator device and service is one of PC World magazine’s coveted Gear of the Year Award recipients. The award is presented annually to celebrate “the most innovative, interesting products we’ve seen (or are waiting to see) this year.”

Using GPS technology and wireless communications, PocketFinder locator devices allow families to check the location of family members, loved ones, pets and luggage at anytime from almost anywhere via the Internet, telephone or smartphone.

In lauding PocketFinder’s innovative technology, PC World stated: “Just hook one to your cat's collar, a suitcase, or your child's keychain; then log on to the Web or dial a number to find out where they are, within 30 feet of their location. The PocketFinder can tell you how fast your lead-foot teenagers are driving and send you a text message when they enter or leave pre-designated areas (like the school library or the mall). Batteries run for 7 days on a single charge, and you get a text message when the juice is running low.”

Dave Morse, co-president and CEO of Location Based Technologies, commented, “We are deeply honored to have received this award, especially since PC World considers thousands of new electronic products before selecting the 22 they consider truly innovative. We believe PocketFinder devices will validate the magazine’s assessment when we release the product this quarter.”

The PocketFinder family of products uses advanced technology to help families stay connected. As the smallest known single-board GSM/GPS device, it fits easily into a pocket, purse or backpack and can be accessed via the Internet, cell phone or landline to show the device’s exact location in real time. The devices also include advanced features such as allowing users to designate customizable alert areas as electronic “fences” to notify them when a family member or pet enters or leaves a specified area. The devices can even track vehicle speeds to encourage safe driving decisions.

PocketFinder has succeeded in integrating its innovative service into both the iPhone (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android platforms, permitting any authorized family member to locate any PocketFinder-enabled smartphone.

The Apple iPhone-based Mobile PocketFinder service is available for a one time user fee of $24.95. It can be downloaded from Apple’s iTune’s AppStore. Mobile PocketFinder’s application for Google’s Android-based G1 (sold exclusively by T-Mobile (NYSE:DT)) is available to download from the Android Market at www.android.com/market.

Press release: Trimble Introduces the AgGPS 262 and 162 Receivers
Featuring Transcend Positioning Technology

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) has introduced two new Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers for agriculture. The new Trimble® AgGPS® 262 receiver is a low profile, combined GPS receiver and antenna, offering a choice of accuracy levels depending on operations. The Trimble AgGPS 162 receiver serves as a low-cost, all-weather, Differential GPS (DGPS) smart antenna when less demanding applications are needed.

Both receivers feature Transcend™ technology, a proprietary Trimble positioning capability that provides users with high accuracy, flexible solutions for the most challenging agriculture applications and environments. Transcend features the latest generation of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) chipsets and processors. This proven technology is shared across multiple Trimble solutions—from current Trimble lightbars and GNSS receivers to the new FmX™ integrated display.

Both receivers also feature OnPath® filter technology to reduce drift and improve accuracy, even in the absence of Satellite-Based Augmentation Service (SBAS) corrections.

The AgGPS 262 receiver, intended as a replacement to the Trimble AgGPS 252 receiver, does not require new cabling and configuration, saving farmers installation time and money. It is a dual frequency L1/L2/L-band receiver, which provides more channels, better signal handling and more accuracy options.

Options on the 262 receiver include sub-inch Real Time Kinematic (RTK), 4-inch OmniSTAR HP, 6-8 inch pass-to-pass OmniSTAR VBS or 6-8 inch pass-to-pass SBAS corrections, including the U.S. Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), European Geostationary Overlay Service (EGNOS) and Japans Multi-functional Satellite Augmentation System (MSAS). The receiver's accuracy options can be purchased separately and easily upgraded to suit a variety of row crop operations.

The Trimble AgGPS 162 receiver provides DGPS information to precision agriculture equipment that accepts NMEA data. Radar speed output allows users to control their variable rate controllers without additional speed indicators. The rugged housing and SBAS accuracy make the 162 receiver a suitable and economical option for a wide range of applications. It is designed for yield monitoring or field mapping and is Autopilot™ system compatible. The 162 receiver is a combined antenna and GPS L1 receiver capable of SBAS corrections.

"Our receiver technology is the core of our business," said Erik Arvesen, Trimble's general manager of Agriculture. "A common core receiver technology enables us to develop a single platform so we can focus on developing value-added solutions that increase farmer's efficiency and productivity."

The Trimble proprietary RTK engine enables users to accurately farm with +/- 1 inch accuracy at an 8-mile range. Radar speed output allows users to control variable rate drivers without additional speed indicators, again saving farmers money by providing integrated components. The AgGPS 262 receiver starts at US$2,995 MSRP. The AgGPS 162 receiver is US$995 MSRP. Both receivers are available now from Trimble resellers. For more information, including the location of your nearest Trimble reseller, call 1-800-865-7438 or visit: www.trimble.com/agriculure.

Press release: Trimble Introduces New FmX Display with Dual Integrated GNSS Receivers for Precision Agriculture Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) has introduced its latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) guidance product that offers a wide range of precision agriculture applications in a single package. Trimble's new AgGPS® FmX™ integrated display is the first display system in the industry today to work as either a stand-alone manual guidance system or as part of an automated guidance, implement control or steering system.

Farmers can use the FmX display for a variety of their GNSS control needs including applications that require one or two receivers, such as vehicle guidance, a pull-behind implement or leveling and drainage equipment. It integrates easily with the Trimble® AgGPS Autopilot™ automated steering system, TrueTracker™ for precision guidance of an implement or with the FieldLevel II system for dual and tandem scraper control. Farmers can also vary crop inputs, control a planter, map fields and view video camera input of field operations—all with one display.

The FmX touch screen display is 12.1 inches, approximately 35 percent larger than the industry standard 10.4-inch screen, yet the display requires no more space in the cab than its predecessor, the AgGPS FieldManager™ display. Crisp graphics and a brighter screen make the FmX easier for the operator to see and interact with the applications being controlled.

In addition, Transcend™ technology, a proprietary Trimble positioning capability, is also integrated into the FmX integrated display, providing users with high accuracy, flexible solutions for the most challenging agriculture applications and environments. Transcend features the latest generation of GNSS chipsets and processors.

The FmX features two integrated, high-performance GNSS receivers, so no additional receivers are necessary to control a tractor and implement. Optional 450 or 900 MHz radios are also integrated into the display for real time kinematic (RTK) applications, along with support for up to four external video cameras. Both receivers include GPS and GLONASS (L1/L2/G1/G2) capability, offering a range of accuracy levels up to RTK GLONASS. The benefit to farmers is that a larger number of satellite signals can provide more robust positioning, even in difficult GPS or GLONASS environments.

"The FmX will help farmers gain efficiencies across their complete farming cycle," said Erik Arvesen, Trimble's general manager of Agriculture. "The integrated components allow farmers to purchase the FmX at a functionality level and price that fits their needs today, with the option to easily upgrade to higher levels of performance as needed. We are packing a lot of capabilities and value into a single package."

The Trimble FmX integrated display is expected to be available in February 2009. The FmX integrated display starts at US$5,995 MSRP and options are priced separately. For more information, call 1-800-874-6253 or visit www.trimble.com/agriculture to find a Trimble reseller.

A subscription to the Trimble VRS Now service and a GNSS rover is all a user needs to begin surveying or collecting data with precision anywhere within the network. Surveyors and other users can switch on their receiver and real-time corrections are available in seconds. Trimble VRS Now works with nearly all GPS and GNSS survey instruments from a variety of manufacturers.

"The Trimble VRS Now network in northern Illinois and eastern Iowa is the latest network service implementation in a series of commercial GNSS Infrastructure networks from Trimble. Press release: Global Traffic Technologies Wins Comprehensive Permanent Injunction Against Competitor in Patent Infringement Suit

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A judge in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis issued a comprehensive permanent injunction on January 22 in favor of Global Traffic Technologies, LLC.

Chief Judge Michael J. Davis enjoined defendant Tomar Electronics Inc. from any future manufacture or sale of products found to infringe U.S. Patent No. 5,172,113. The injunction ruling comes three months after a U.S. District Court jury awarded Global Traffic Technologies $6.75 million in damages for past infringement by Tomar Electronics.

Rick Sachse, president of Global Traffic Technologies, says his company is pleased with the court’s decision. “The infringement of our patent was well-documented, and we’re confident the appropriate injunction was granted,” says Sachse.

Global Traffic Technologies markets and sells the patented OpticomTM Infrared System for emergency vehicle preemption and transit signal priority. Tomar Electronics, based in Gilbert, Ariz., marketed and sold the StrobecomTM II traffic preemption system.

The original patent infringement claim against Tomar Electronics was filed on April 13, 2005. Global Traffic Technologies won an order of infringement against Tomar Electronics on December 27, 2007, when the court found infringement of multiple patent claims. The monetary damages verdict was awarded on October 22, 2008. Faegre & Benson LLP has represented Global Traffic Technologies in all phases of this suit.

Press release: iSECUREtrac Is Awarded Massachusetts Contract for GPS Electronic Monitoring of Offenders

OMAHA, NE--(Marketwire) - iSECUREtrac Corp. (OTCBB: ISEC), an industry leader in electronic monitoring solutions, announced today that after a competitive review of multiple systems, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Commissioner of Probation selected iSECUREtrac's System 5000® as a part of an initiative to help supervise high-risk offenders.

"We firmly believe that electronic monitoring is a useful tool that assists in viewing offender behavior patterns and enhances supervision in the community. It allows the Commonwealth to provide an extra layer of supervision to the community at large," said Massachusetts Probation Commissioner, John O'Brien.

The System 5000®, a small GPS electronic monitoring system carried by the offender, will alert officers if the offender is not complying with the terms of his or her release. Probation employees in Electronic Monitoring Centers will monitor the movement of supervised offenders. Officers use a web-based software program to set up electronic boundaries where the offender is allowed and areas that are off-limits. Should the offender not comply with the terms, the State may issue a warrant for the offender's arrest.

Massachusetts, one of the first states to implement a GPS monitoring program, presently monitors over 900 offenders on Active GPS supervision on a daily basis with additional offenders being added to the program each week. The contract will begin in January 2009 with systems to be deployed throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The State will begin the transition process to iSECUREtrac's technology in the latter part of January.

In addition, iSECUREtrac's Crime Scene Inquiry will allow monitoring centers to cross reference offender movement patterns with crime scene locations. Monitored individuals that are within the areas of crime scenes during specified time periods may be identified as suspects or in the alternative may be eliminated from the investigation.

"Massachusetts is an innovator when it comes to statewide GPS electronic monitoring programs. Many states and counties look to them to see what works when it comes to offender monitoring. It is an honor to win this prestigious contract and we look forward to continuing to help them with their success," said Peter A. Michel, president and CEO of iSECUREtrac.
