I contacted TT 2day in reference to the progress of the map updates & the POIs that is said to coming in shortly for the 1000/1005 devices.
The guy told me that the POIs will be 1st & that they had tried the application a few days ago & that they have a few more tweaks to do & that it should be released within the next few days/ end of the week
My fingers are crossed & I wait with bated breath ![Wink](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I think we are all waiting with bated breath - the longer this drags on the more people lose any faith in TT - and i don't think theres much of that left. _________________ Keith

I noticed that Tomtom are now giving £30 cashback if you buy a new 1000 from Halfords or Amazon.
This must be due to poor sales figures?
I am tempted as my GPRS traffic sub expires soon and I gave up on map subs long ago due to no update on a road near me that's been in place for at least 5 years. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

If it were £300 cash back I still wouldn't bother with it, poor sales figures or not.
It simply doesn't do whats advertised on the box, and the broken promise of delivering functionality that should have been present from day one is nothing short of a farce, eleven days after their own target date (set 90+ days ago) and still no custom POI options, with some users unable to update devices to the latest version of Navcore 10 without the possible interaction of TomTom customer support (when it works)
Save your £30 would be my tip until they either sort this mess out or return to a stable device interface that works in a reliable mannor- Mike |

I have and use my 950 daily for work. I have access to a GO 1000 which is ok, but I still love and prefer my GO 950 over any other device I have ever used!!

Agreed - the GO950Live is my favourite to date. Does what it says on the box...but, I think if and when the GO 1000 starts to have the add ons that were promised + plus the later maps, then that would be my next choice. _________________ Gee-Pee

Same here, but the 940 - love that (still flawed) mp3 player. |

Whilst i agree that the debacle with the 1000 series software and other issues is a pain and certainly detracting from its sale in the retail domain i still feel even as it is it is a top unit.Gets me to where i want has a great easy on the eye look to it's screen and the HD traffic is something i have come to like a lot.
My 930 went bung so i decided togo for the 1005 and i absolutely love it.
Havent been able to update it, back it up or do much else and my maps are 7 months old apparently but it is still a great bit of kit.Perhaps i am in la la land but i hope that TomTom come to the party with their promises for these units as i think that with all the little bits people would like to be able to utilise then these will take off.
I have read countless threads about you can't do this, it dont do that, but apart from the PGPSW cameras and backing up etc the rest of it i dont really care about, as said it gets me to where i want to go and it does that as good as any previous models i have had and believe me i've had em all. |

I've a TT540, which i'm looking to upgrade - the idea being i'd move onto the 1000 series, but i would not even dream on buying a product that on refection was never ready to be sold to the general public.
Like a few other on this forum i've started to look at other PND, at present i'm looking into Navigon's latest devices, which had a good review on here, and of course there's Garmin as well.
I think its also case just how long are you prepared to wait for TT to get their act together and fix something that was already broken when it was sold, and have so far failed to deliver on their own target date to start to make things work - eleven days after their own target date (set 90+ days ago) _________________ Keith

It may not be perfect. TomTom should get the POI and updating issues sorted. And fast
BUT the Go 1000 and 1005 are simply better navigators than the flagship Navigon or Garmin units full stop
Faster route calculation. Clearer turn views. Most accurate vocal guidance. Easiest mount. Live Traffic to which no other comes close
So yes, it has issues, but to look elsewhere at the moment (for a flagship model in Navigon / Garmin / TomTom / Mio range) is foolhardy _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600
