does anyone know for sure if there is any difference in detailes between the W/C Europe and the 2GB W/C Europe.
Or is this just a difference in the way they are compressed ?? |

Edit Crashed after three hours at about 700Kbps on my "Up to 20Mb broadband". Grrr. |
DennisN, I humbly apply to join you in the "Download Crash Club".
After 3 hours 23minutes, the download keeled over and pointed its tootises skywards and was alas no more, for it had disappeared into TomTom Heaven!
I went to download again, and the estimated download speed was over 8 hours .
Needless to say, I will wait and try again later _________________ Mick

When I went for it again an hour and a half ago, it started where it had left off (at least, the temperature gauge was already half full) with Est Time Remaining at 3 secs. Over the next hour it slowly climbed to 18 mins and then started to go down. The last half hour has seen it reduce to 11 mins, so I'd guess it'll be over before bedtime. As I'm downloading onto 8GB SDHC card, I'm curious to learn whether it'll wipe and replace the old 825 map or whether I'll have them both. Hopefully I'll still be sober when it finishes (maybe I'll drink long and slow, or even responsibly!). _________________ Dennis

When you people download:
1. Do you minimize Home's screen to the task bar?
2. Do you download with a directly connected computer (not wireless?).
The reason I ask is that I dl the NA map (admittedly about 1580k for a 720) on a line rated at upto 7 megs and the dl took about 25 minutes with no crash. _________________ David |

I am very lucky to get this new map today as I only subscribed to the Map Update service yesterday, so that was great timing! |

Yes you will need the 8,350 Navcore release installed for the new map - Mike |
Installed new map OK whilst running Navcore 8,302

Downloaded in about an hour and a half on my plain old BT Broadband.
Installed no problem via Home on my Mac.
But it needed two resets for my 740 to see satellites again and, as others have observed, all my favourites have gone. |

Mine crashed about half way through, but when I spotted it and clicked again in Home to download it resumed from the point where it had crashed. I thought I would have to start again from the beginning
Total download time for the Western Europe 1GB version was about 25 minutes - I didn't think that was bad for the first morning the new map was available.

Hey, I've found a corrected bit of road.
51.452429082269774, -2.385985851287842
They've made these five yards one way at last!
I can't now remember whether my download (W&CE 2.01GB) took 5 or 6 hours (after crashing then resuming at the continuation point when I restarted it). But it didn't install - some sort of error report. For some strange reason, I decide that because it said it had downloaded, I'd hunt around the PC and found the downloaded zip file and unzipped it into the map folder on the SDHC card. And it works. _________________ Dennis

A question if I may - do I have to re-key my speed cam TTS alerts on my 920 each time I download a new map, or are there files I can back up and copy back into the TT folder?
Cheers,
Matt. |

my 1 map correct that has been submitted at least 4 times has STILL not been done either .... try navigating from Sainsbury Bexhill to anywhere ..it must be the only 1 way street that leads to a dead end you'll see why when you find it _________________ TomTom 5001 |

If you copy the new map over in TTH it should keep your original alerts. If you have to delete the map folder to install the new map because of space problems then yes you will have to copy them back into the correct folder |
