Barryd should be congratulated for this very useful add on.
I have one query - following the instructions, all is well with the PPC disconnected from the cradle and GPS - the data converts and displays the relevant map location. Once connected to the GPS TomTom switches back to the current GPS location view without showing the input coordinate location.
Is there any way around this? My only work around so far has been to input the coordinates before connection to the GPS. Then if I need to input a further location I disconnect the PPC from the GPS and perform a soft reset.
Thanks again for this utility. |

Try going to Properties > Advanced tab > Map view section. There's an option here to "Keep GPS position on screen". If you've got this ticked, the map will keep snapping back to your current position whenever you have a GPS fix. Clear the selection and you should be okay.
A new version of the tool should be on my site in a few days with support for Irish National Grid. _________________ Barry Davies

Having turned off that option, there will of course be times when you do want to move the map to your current (or most recent) GPS position. To do that, just tap on the satellite fix symbol on the right-hand side on the grey bar above the map graphic. _________________ Barry Davies

Barryd, thanks for this. Now works perfectly.
This utility makes navigator far more useful (to me) as I often only get a OS Grid ref to locate a site that may be in a farmers field.
Now I can locate it on the TomTom map and navigate straight there.
Thanks again. |

I've recently discovered how to read a GPS stream and so will be soon releasing a program to show your grid ref in real time, and perhaps (I hope) even plot position on a raster map.
Let me know if this is useful or you'd like further info.

Well, after many many hours of hard work the first alpha version of said map position plotting program is available for PocketPC 2003.
Here's the homepage:

Try it, I'd welcome any comments.
