There's no custom menu to type that in. Not that I know of anyways. How do I get to the custom menu where I can type text in?
Thanks for your time! |

The text you need is:
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Main menu 1 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES|
MENUITEM|TASK_MAINTAIN_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE2|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main menu 2 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_TRAFFIC|
MENUITEM|TASK_ITINERARY|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE3|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE3|Main menu 3 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_DOC_BROWSER|
MENUITEM|TASK_SWITCH_TIPS|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE1|
If you highlight the above text, right click and select "Copy" now start NotePad on the PC right click in the application and select "Paste" the menu text above will appear on the screen. Use the File Save As and name the file TomTom.mnu Save the file to the desktop of your PC.
Right click the TomTom.mnu file that is on your desktop and select "Copy" from the pop up.
Connect the TomTom to the PC, if Home starts up shut it down as you don't need it for this. Start Windows Explorer and locate the drive letter associated with the device, click this to open the drive, it should now display a list of folders and files, this is the "Root" of the device.
Right click on the drive letter that is for your TomTom and choose New/ Folder from the pop up. Name the folder SdkRegistry make sure you type this exactly as I have as the device is case sensitive.
Now right click on the folder named SdkRegistry and select "Paste" from the pop up.
You will have the new menu structure when the device boots up, sort out your tips issue, then re-connect to the PC and re-name the TomTom.mnu file in the SdkRegistry folder to TomTom_Old.mnu your device will now be back to the normal menu - Mike

Thanks I'll try that. Above you said to name it SdkRegisrty but then used SDKRegistry...since it's case sensitive which should I use?
Thanks...I'm looking forward to trying this! |

Sorry about that - and one to remember - double check what it written - SdkRegistry is what you should be using - Mike |

That worked! Thanks for the great idiot-proof procedure.
The only thing that gave me a little trouble was when I saved the TomTom.mnu file it automatically saved it as TomTom.mnu.txt so I went back to resave it as TomTom.mnu then selected "All Files" under "Save as type". Other than that your procedure was detailed and complete!
Thanks again! |

Hi,just been reading through this thread and with regards to tips etc every now & then i get a message to say my map etc is out of date and needs to be updated,go to the web site etc etc.I have read the section where mike has mentioned the following, change preferences then hide tips etc to show a red cross,My question is will this then stop the message about the map being out of date.
To be honest i cant remember anything else popping up.
When i checked the setting it had a green tick so now i have the red cross.
Please advise thanks. |

The message about a newer map is triggered by the software it is not treated as a tip so it will still appear even with tips set to off - Mike |
