Thanks to the previous links and people with regards to postcodes on Tom Toms my TT720 is now working with the full postcode, I had been rather disapointed having prased the 700 and it's ability to almost pinpoint locations only to find my 720 worked on 4digits, all is now well, thanks everyone, good job! |

So you still haven't been given the "latest" Netherlands ones that are on the Go720.
Do they match any of the file sizes I mention in the other topic? (i.e. is what you've got the same as they've just sent me?) |

Yes andy exactly the same size.
Mine came with the version files though.
If you want to get the version to show it is not hard.
create a new wordpad file,
and type this
[description]
ID=Great_Britainpostal_teleatlas
version=701
put it in the original zip folder
It should then show.
Funny you say that, but i thought surely NL codes must have a later ver. Especially as the created date is 2006. |

I've just had a link sent to me by Tomtom, I'll post it if allowed. It has GB and the Netherlands, no .ver files but their sizes are:
GB 9,308.529 bytes
NL 1,982,464 bytes |

When i got my second set of postcodes sent i got POSTAL files for GB and NL and .VER files to go with them. Has anyone else that asked TT for them got the .VER files also or is it a selected few. Why would they not just send the same set to everybody? _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I wouldn't worry too much about the ver Files .... they serve no purpose other than to tell the user the Version of the Postal File that they came with.
If you leave them off the Device altogether it functions correctly. _________________ Richard

Yeah, my main point was that TomTom are just making MORE confusion and MORE work for themselves by not providing the version details. It's not as if it's hard to do.
Better to leave it off than to make up your own or keep the old one, which will just report the wrong version number whenever you look in the future.
But more importantly, they still haven't said why the postcodes are not being automatically provided when you buy a new map! |

The way they stated in the reply they gave me was as if it was a one off when i did'nt get the postcode files when i bought the new map a few months ago and everyone that bought the new map get the postcode files automatically without problems. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Thanks everyone!
Following the links, I downloaded the GB and Netherlands postcode files from TT. As a matter of principle, I have hassled TT Support to ask why the postcode files were not part of the latest WE maps that I've just purchased. Can't imagine I'll get a useful answer
Cheers,
Frank |
