this isnt always the case though - i have missed a couple of junctions before as it has waited too late to tell me to exit!
Nonsense. If you miss a junction it's entirely your own fault. TomTom gives you plenty of warning. In fact it tells you where your next junction is and how many miles are to the next junction just after you exit the junction before that. In some cases on the safety screen it will tell you the next two junctions.
If you had any sense you would be watching the count down timer from time to time and know that your junction is coming soon, plus you should also be reading those big blue signs over and beside the road which give you a big clue as to the necessary junction.
The only way you can miss the junction with both TomTom and common sense navigating is if you are totally alseep. In which case nothing will help you.
you try that when its as foggy as nuts and you have one junction coming straight after another - impossible, its not until you've gone past it that it tells you to come off at the junction you just missed. No offence either about the gent thing - perhaps thats my problem being female _________________ Bex

Still shouldn't be a problem, even when foggy. You'll know from TomTom exactly how far ahead the middle of the junction is. So unless it's zero visibility, at which point I wouldn't like to be on the road anyway!, then it's not too difficult
And where there is one junction after another is the type of application TomTom excels at.
Now personally I don't rely on voice instructions, I actually find them more distracting than taking an occasional glance at the screen.

If you rely on voice only, there can be confusion if you are not used to TomTom. (hint get used to it and look at the screen)
For example on approaching the M1 whilst westbound on the M25 and intending to go North on the M1, TomTom advises you to keep right when approaching J21A when really you want to be in the left lane as 300 yards further on the left lane splits off to join the M1N. If you do keep in the right lane at 21A then cut off sharply to the left lane by 21, you need a lot of nerve or a just a bad driver.
