And what if you use MPH and want to alert at say 10% OVER the cam speed? |

Yes, that is a good point. It would be better to allow configuration of over speed warnings at a % under/over the saved camera speed, as vehicle speedometers do not have a constant speed offset, they are linearly proportional to the actual speed of vehicle.
Using a % representation allows users to receive over speed warnings at speeds which are either under the saved camera speed (less than 100%), or over it (more than 100%).
Think it would also be useful to give users an example of what the % offset looks like in units of speed (in either kmph or mph dependant on the user's chosen setting). This obviously requires users to set what the camera speed is for their example.
Pic below represents an example of how this might look.

I think I've been through all 16 pages and not spotted this one.
How about the ability to warn about different types of camera with different warnings. When I ran the TT version I could set up so that I got a bong for a mobile and a siren for a fixed. With the app it's one size fits all. |

What's wrong with having the app TELL you what the camera is and what speed it is?
I get... Siren, then spoken warning "Mobile camera zone, 70 miles per hour" etc, etc, etc for every different type and speed. I did once try different bings and bongs for TomTom's cameras, but with many different ones (12 I think it was) I needed a list of sounds to interpret and a third eye to read it, just to get the types, never mind the speeds! _________________ Dennis

Not seen this in the 16 pages - although probably missed it...
Can we have an option to switch off alerts to cameras when we are not over their speed limits? On a long motorway journey I suffer "alert fatigue" where I find I'm mentally switching off to the alerts when I have my cruise control set to 68 mph (according to the TomTom or CamerAlert app) on a 70 mph road and I'm warned of mobile, after mobile, after mobile when I'm under the limit. Plus most of the time they are not there anyway but you can't control that....
Similar option for Average Speed Zones not to alert at every Middle Camera if your average speed is below the speed limit. Perhaps an alert if you drift over the average speed "Reduce Average Speed"?? until you are under the average again.
I don't like to be distracted by the iPhone when I'm driving so I really only want audio alerts when I need to know - i.e. maybe doing 52 in a 50mph zone. Plus it ruins my enjoyment of whatever music / radio we're listening to. |

I see the will be a CamerAlert v2 coming out soon...
I wanted to share some ideas but many are already listed in the previous 2 pages that I just read - is good to see the guys here are open to listen to the community so here is an idea - if at all possible...
Apple Maps now offers turn-by-turn navigation - could that service be brought into the CamerAlert app?
I know the Apple maps are not the best but they are bound to improve with time... |

It is very unlikely. It is an alerting app and not a navigation app. You can, however, set it so that Apple Maps automatically starts when CamerAlert is launched.

Haven't seen this one requested so here goes.
Is it possible to have a repeated alert temporarily muted/ignored/acknowledged by touching the speed limit image on the screen?
There are a few 30mph mobile sites near me just as it changes from NSL and so it starts to warn me numerous times as I approach the zone. I don't want to drop the advance timings or remove repeat alerts and so a method to acknowledge the alert and silence it until the next time would be fantastic. Would also stop the wife and kids shouting "I know" all the time. |

Or simply 'tap anywhere on the map' - or add a mute button somewhere when you're in an alert area.

I did start a whole thread about this and I see someone suggested it for last time but I'm trying to find a way to have the iphone behave like a fixed gps detector that automatically operates whenever you drive the car.
I suggested that it starts and stops the app whenever the iphone is being charged by the car, indicating the ignition positive is on because the car is running.
Stopping the device to prevent battery drain from the gps aerial.
Alternatively, checking to see if the iphone music is being output.
I actually have two devices in my car, one car iphone that lives in the car hidden away, and my personal iphone that I use all the time. If listening to the radio, the car iphone cannot interfer with the music, if listening to music the car iphone fades it.
My main goal is for the car iphone to have CA enabled somehow whenever the car is in use. Maybe even auto switching between audio output through data cable and bluetooth, when the music output is not being used - that's getting seriously clever.
I do hope this suggestion is not a unique to me feature. |

Adamantium - that simply isn't possible on iOS as their SDK doesn't allow anything like that.
It is possible on Android using something like Tasker to trigger the 'car mode' at certain times (eg when charging, when connecting to bluetooth etc)

Understood.
Fairly clear cut answer that I didn't appreciate was the case.
Aside from the charging state, is the output of music state detectable?
ie. music being output, if yes then CA should be on. Turn off according to normal parameters ie. no change in gps signal after 5 mins etc. |

It is while the app is running. However, the app would need to be running already - which defeats the object! Android allows 'services' to run constantly (for example a 'listener') which allows extra features like that to work.
Apple don't, so it's not an option we have.
