Hopefully you've reported it then as unless someone does how are Garmin expected to know? Normally they get their info from professional bodies, 2 new housing estates near me for example were on the next map update, presumably put into the system by the relevant council.

I havent reported it as I dont have the time. As for how are they supposed to know - many of the map errors I find in Garmins the roads have been like that for decades. It's just slackness on Garmin's part and their reporting system is nowhere near as easy as TomTom.

Maybe a lot of people just don't have the time so Here mapping are unaware.

If no one here reported cameras the database would be empty.

TomTom have less errors and the reason is it's easier to report errors with TomTom.

Well I've rarely spotted an error in Garmin's mapping and I've used it for 10 years or more. I can only recall 2, both in France, one where a new dual carriageway made another road a dead end, and another where a new road was on the map a month or so before it was opened.

Perhaps you might like to think of how much time you've lost due to the (Garmin mapping) errors which you haven't had time to report? Just like the camera database here, surely reporting is actually in your own interests? Losing time grumbling on here won't correct a single map error, just saying.

You're right. Part of me doesn't want to help them as I don't plan on using Garmin outside of my work because of this issue. I actually find it disgusting how many errors there are like this. And as I've already said it's because it is not easy to report them. Half the time I forget where the errors were when I get home.

Wonder where you are travelling as you seem to be finding far more errors than I've come across in 10 years of using Garmins, both here and in Europe and the US.

I seem to recall a post, many years ago, where some map errors are due to the Garmin not fully resetting after a map update.

The solution was a full master reset and the OP at the time reported - job done.

or am I dreaming

Possibly not. Certainly after a software or map update a reset is advised if the device no longer works the way you previously experienced.

Never driven there. Maybe Scottish councils etc aren't good at updating the relevant databases?

I keep a notebook in my car for fuel/mileage. I also use the notebook for other things like map issues. Next time you stop (stop as soon as you can) and make a note of the problem including the time and date. If you have a dashcam with audio switched on you can add additional comments.

Next time you're in the office or at home, you can report the problems in the time that it takes to drink a mug of tea/coffee.

Are the problems with the actual mapping of roads (i.e. physical roads don't exist in the map) or with POI data? Have a look at the Here online mapping data so you can see whether Here have the problem or whether it's just Garmin.

If it's a POI problem then why don't you create your own POIs?

Regards,

If 'Here' have it correct, which in this case seems to be mainly one way streets, then I would try the Garmin full master reset.

One way and blocked off streets. How do I find out is HERE have it correct? And why would Garmins be so rubbish that you'd have to do a full master reset?

Have a look at https://mobile.here.com/ It's very speedy loading and zooming.

A road priority near my house was changed a couple of months ago and it's already shown.

Garmin only update their maps infrequently (4 times a year max) from HERE, who are at it all the time.
