I agree.
I'm watching the TT forum at the moment and I spotted a post today where a 4 year old SatNav was now obsolete.
Probably more to it but that was the complaint _________________ DashCam:

Specifically I think it's the A66/A6 junction that always routes me North when I want to go East. _________________ nuvi 2599LMT-D, oregon 700, basecamp, memory-map. |

It never used to do it on my old Nuvi55 or even my Drivesmart 55 until a few months ago after the latest map update.
On another note has anybody noticed the lack of speed camera updates the last week or two off Garmin Express? Normally there's one every day or so on the Drivesmart 55 when I check but nothing at all for the last couple of weeks? |

One thing I've noticed (the same with Tomtom) is that they both make it more difficult (or with Garmin impossible) to even purchase maps for older devices, which I can understand this as they want to sell devices, so stating (aka outright lying) that their maps are incompatible with older devices will make many people buy a newer device. |

Well most older Garmin devices, unless you go way back, have lifetime updates. Even so I've never yet heard of a Garmin device that you can't buy maps for, unless they really are ancient, what device do you have? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I've just checked this (using simulation mode) and it routes correctly. Where are you travelling from and to? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Wasn't there advice to reset the device if you had any map issues ?
Some did and posted back routing success. _________________ DashCam:

Yep, any issues after a map or software update is generally resolved after a reset _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I recently purchased from Ebay an Garmin i2 Streetpilot and will bid on an Garmin StreetPilot c320.
It would be nice to buy an UK map but Garmin (falsely) claim they're unsupported products. |

Wow, those are old devices. Why buy something that old? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

If you simulate (eg) Keswick Cumbria to York, it takes you along the A66 Eastbound, turns North up the M6 for a few miles and back down again, to rejoin the A66 Eastbound.
(I thought it was the A6 junction that did this, but apparently not, nowadays).

The odd routing also happens in Basecamp and Mapsource so it can't be thedevice. |

I've done some playing and can at least explain what is possibly happening. The Garmin map shows two lanes going into the roundabout at the junction. One is meant to be the left hand filter lane onto the M6 but when you look at the route in Google Earth that lane is actually overlaid on the left hand lane of the two lanes for going straight on. Clearly therefore if you approach the roundabout in that left hand lane your device will believe you're in the filter lane and route you up the M6.
Why this should happen when you simulate it on your device I can't explain though, nor why my BaseCamp routes correctly _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
