No, it's where "pocketgps_uk_xxxxxxxxx" means all the files starting with pocketgps_uk_

or even "pocketgps_uk_xxxxxxxxx" means all the files in which the first 13 characters of their filenames is "pocketgps_uk_" (without the quotes')

Nah, Andy, I reckon he's given up - it's more than 24 hours and he hasn't come back to ask if he's got to go through all that lot each time he wants new cameras.

I'm not going to waste my time telling him he doesn't need to, because he hasn't got there yet.

No you don't... Any mention of "Safety Alerts" in the menus is just for TomTom's OWN (not very good) camera data.

If you're sure you've got the Pocket GPS World files on the TomTom, can you check these things for us:

1. If you go to the "Change Preferences" menu screen and then tap on "Show POI on map" can you find a whole load of "pocketgps uk....." POI categories if you scroll down the list?

2. Have you ticked them in that list? If you have, then you should be able to see them on the "Browse map" screen, (but you have to zoom in quite close).

3. To get the warnings working, have you gone to "Change Preferences" / "Manage POIs" / "Warn when near POI" and set up a warning distance and sound for EVERY type of camera and speed? This takes quite a while to slog through all 30-odd camera types and speeds.

4. When you set up those warnings, if you have also downloaded the warning VOICES, you shouldn't get the chance to select a "bleep" - the system will just select the right voice clip for you.
All you have to do is select the warning distance you want and then answer "Yes" when it asks if this is the sound you want to use even though you haven't heard anything. Then you have to do it all again for EVERY one of the camera types.

Once you get all the warnings working, you normally don't have to set them up each time you update the speed cameras Razz

You simply select all the new files in the latest download, drag them onto your map folder, and when the Mac puts up the copy window tick the 'Apply to all' box, then select 'Replace'.

1. Yes i can see them on the list
2 Yes i can see them on the map
3 yes i have set the distance and bleep on "Change Preferences" / "Manage POIs"
There are only 5 camera types and speeds.
4. there are no voice options just the bleep option!
