My full version details (on a Go940) are App: 9.058.568435.1 OS 541764 (1030, 25/8/2010)
And exactly the same version on a Go950. |

Unfortunately, as MRCC said, the same version NUMBER can work differently on different models.
So has ANYONE with a Go550 or 750 (as opposed to a 950) got FAST appearance of the Traffic bar?
@ rbecking
Maybe it's worth trying the same "fix" as some people have found works to cure the SIM card recognition problem, i.e. letting the device run down completely on battery power? |

| I thought the speed of appearance of the taffic bar/info was just an x40 issue (when using 9.058) but x50 were always okay?
What I was picking up on was: whether there is a difference, when using 9.058, between 540/740 compared to 940.
Is there anyone running a 540/v9.058 who consistently gets quick appearance and download of the HD traffic? |

I timed it a few days ago for another topic and on my Go940 running v9.058 it took a total of 1 minute 7 seconds from first switch-on (when the navigation screen appeared) to produce the sidebar AND to retrieve the HD Traffic information and show it in the sidebar.
That's about as long as it always takes, and seems reasonable to me. |
On my 940 running v 9.058 Navcore at my home address it currently takes more or less 2 minutes dead to produce the traffic side bar and about 3 minutes 10 seconds before the scrolling wheel stops turning in the traffic bar and traffic data has actually been retrieved.
I would have thought the actual times would be very much dependent on how good the local mobile phone signal is as the better the signal then the quicker the unit will log on to the TomTom servers and download the traffic data but the worse the signal is the longer it will take to complete that task. I only have a 1 to 2 bar signal under Network and Connected at my home address on my 940. Also I thought that Andy_P had returned his 940 to TomTom and had his SIM card replaced by one that they deemed as being better designed than the original X40 SIM card stock for working with Navcore 9.058. So Andy_P's log on times to the HD traffic servers may not be at all typical of users who still have the original x40 series SIM card in their units with Navcore 9.058.
Being suddenly unable to log on to the Live service on an x40 unit at a certain transmitter repeatedly seems to be an unfortunate failing of the 9.058 Navcore with the originally supplied Vodafone SIM cards in the x40 units (that would not work at all on the Live services with the earlier v9.054 Navcore that TomTom incorrectly released as being compatible with the x40 series) that Andy_P of course no longer has in his own unit.
The simplest solution that I believe usually works is turn off your x40 unit where you cannot connect to the Live servers and then drive at least 10 miles away to an area where a different Vodafone mast provides the signal and turn the unit on again. It should now log on as normal. If you keep trying to connect in a Vodafone mast area that has denied you service and where no SIM ID is shown from the Network button in the GPRS satellite lock Status & Information screen then you will continue to be repeatedly denied service. |

GO 550 (9.058):
Traffic bar in about 30 sec, traffic ready in 1 min 10 sec |

Didn't work. :-(
However what i did find out today is that when placed near a set of speakers the unit can cause interferance like when a mobile phone get poor signal. The unit only tends to do this when getting the initial bar up and running. Once established the activity goes quiet.
However now there is a heavy burst a few seconds after switching on for a few seocnds and then nothing for a couple of minutes until it tries again. On the second attempt the bar appears and (mostly) logs in ok.... |

Sorry! Finger trouble... I meant to say 540/740 I've been away for a few days so didn't get to correct it. |

Mine is almost always 2-3 mins to start, with the one exception on the first start after the 865 map installed when it was around 10 seconds. Since then 2-3 minutes again.
I also notice yesterday that as traffic updates, there is a period of around 30 secs to a minute, when the old traffic info clears before the new traffic info appears, that can lead you to think that an incident ahead has cleared. _________________ Drivelux |

550 Live (9.058).
Traffic bar appeared after 45 seconds.
Traffic info retrieved after 1 min 27 secs.
This was with a Network signal of only 1 bar showing. |

Thanks jonbaker....
Any more, please?
(As 'MRCC' asks (and I meant to request), just for a moment, can we just keep this to reports from people where it *IS* appearing quickly, so we can get an idea of how the numbers work out.
We've already heard from the people where it isn't quick.) |

Initial connection to LIVE on my 740 is very sluggish (often five minutes plus). Much worse, though, I'm noticing more and more the issue of losing LIVE services when travelling through an area where there is no Vodafone coverage (fair enough), but then my 740 never reconnecting where there is subsequently good coverage en route without me rebooting the device. A right pain in the arse every time I have to cross the Pennines. |

No one then?
OK, lets try it as a poll. Vote here for how long it takes HD Traffic to appear on your Go x40 or Go x50 model. |
