Why you can't do it while it is still in the TomTom?

Although do be aware that anything you save onto one card (such as Favourites, POIs etc.) won't get copied across to the other (see THIS TOPIC for some further discussion on that). |

You can, I just found it easier to remove the card & put it straight in the PC, especially if the computer has a built in card reader

I've devised a way of synchronising the two cards
Update card with last map changes using TT Home
Open that card
Remove PGPSW voices and camera data to a temp folder
Copy remainder to other card
Reinstall voices and data from temp folder.
It's a lot of deleting and reinstalling when all I want is the file that holds The map changes I have made or downloaded.
Does anyone know which file(s) contain them so I only need to copy and paste the specific files I want ? |

Although that still won't "sync" your POIs and Favourites you've added will it?

Map Corrections seem to be involved with 5 DAT Files and two ServerNameIndex, ServerLineIndex and MapServerPatch are for the downloaded changes and MapUserPatch and UserPatch are for your own corrections.
It seems that the file in the map directory MapUserPatch.dat refers to changes in the file in the root directory called UserPatch.dat which actually contains the details of the changes. If you delete either file they recreate themselves but if you do not have a matching pair you seem to lose the changes.
I have not copied across devices but I have removed the root directory file which removed all my changes. When I restored it, my changes were not visible again until I also restored the map directory file.
It also needs to reboot after copying the files before the corrections are visible.
So in short... it's not that easy, but it *might work* if the two maps are identical and on the same machine. |

Yes, you're are right ! My way of 'synching' was not copying some files.
I decided therefore to opt for one voice set or the other and I chose Vicki.
I have kept the other voices saved in case I ever want to change back.
However I found the Vicki warnings a bit lengthy so I reduced them using Audacity and now what I get is
" Camera ahead " for 20mph warnings and TBA's
and "Camera ahead (xx) miles per hour" (as appropriate) for the others.
It means I don't get an audible warning as to what type of cameara is ahead but I don't think that matters.
It involved a lot of copying and pasting and renaming and it took about an hour
If anyone else wants a copy I'll gladly pass them on. |

Well done!
I felt the same about most of the voices being a bit "wordy" for my liking. That's why I made the "Simon" set, which just says "Speed camera, 30" for gatsos, "Mobile camera, 30" for mobiles and "Speed camera, Specs, 30" for Specs.
I really wish I'd made a "Kate" version at the same time as it would have been easy then. |
