Initial investigation shows that indeed the Teletype application not just warns about unrecognized devices but actively disables the GPS as soon as a jacket or CF GPS is detected.

I even see this happening when I connect both a serial GPS and the jacket GPS (which I need for the enclosed storage card slot) - Teletype won't work, not even with the serial GPS. The same serial GPS works fine when the GPS jacket is removed (using a standard PC-Card jacket for the map data)

I'll need to play some more with the registry but initially you may be right - they are short sighted enough to block foreign jackets and CF cards, and only allow third party serial and BT receivers. how weird is that...

Additionally, the Fortuan BT Clip-on works great with fast fixes.

So, they absoultly need to change thier discription of the word wireless to "sleeve, jacket style, CompacFlash and SDIO GPS receivers" since BT is truely wireless, not a plug-in device.

TeleType does not support NMEA devices which are wireless such as compact flash or jacket style GPSs made by other companies. You need to provide a serial cable from your computer or PDA to make the connection to the GPS receiver's serial cable.
