Well, that's nice to hear - I take it you actually have input a speed correction to prove it? _________________ Dennis

The compass thing is strange.
Surely if programmed a little differently, East is West it would work perfectly, as long as you had the degrees shown on the screen. One of them things that would take a minor code change I would imagine. |

The speed corrections now appear as 30mph in my estate instead of 29mph. The compass hasnt changed, but ive been informed the version im running is several test versions old, so i`d assume that it may still be fixed before the offical release. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Yes the correction worked from 30 displayed to 40 displayed on the tomtom. Also a new feature, when you select a road for a speed limit change, you are asked if its permanent or temporary ie for road works. Thats a nice feature! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

You maybe right Dennis but all the info about wrong turns and various other info that is submitted is no doubt used toward getting your updated new map even better when it is released.
Who gives a crap about whether it's 30 mph or what. I'm more interested in the stupid instructions to turn off a road onto a feed on carraigway that clearly is a no brainer.
As for iq routing have to agree can't say it does much for me, it isn't rocket science that your journey will take longer in busy times.
As for the lane guidance, what speed do you drive at?
I get my instructions at just under half a mile, thats plenty of time.
A little scary with the beer in one hand and the mobile in the other though. |

Even at that, there are times when the ALG is very late - have you ever driven down the M3 to the M27 (Southampton) junction, or north up the M5 to the M4 for London. ALG is next to useless at both of those - you'll be far better off relying on the beer and phone to get you through them, or simply follow the bold line on the map on your TomTom.
Your half mile is sometimes measured from the start of the slip road markings, but also sometimes from the sharp bit which makes holes in the fronts of vehicles which can't make their minds up. At the bottom of the M3 you could easily spill your beer trying to whizz across to the correct lane from wherever you are if you're not where you should be! _________________ Dennis

I have heard the M3 one mentioned before.
I have to agree with your other point about the starting point for the distance, it does seem to vary somewhat between the start of the ramp or the actual point of the split.
Also Dennis thinking more into your points i realised that most of the junctions i was thinking about are pretty much regular trips for me so i suppose the ALG is firmly in the nogging anyway.
Mine kicks in usually at 0.40 to the turn off. |
