Hi Anita,

Thanks for you reply, I think I have sent you a pm, although I am not showing it in my sent box, the screen just goes blank when I send the PM. I have tried twice now !

Hopefully you will have my PM.

Thanks Tony

Tony, I've just picked up your PM and replied to it. The disc will go in tomorrow's post.

Just so you know for the future, messages stay in your Outbox until the recipient reads it, then it appears in your Sent box. It often causes confusion!

I can only question the wisdom of permanently attaching a TT mount in your car, considering most police forces recommend that you remove the mount & unit from your car as it's an open invitation to thieves.

I never leave any sign that I have a sat nav in the car & the only power cord is for a mobile but that's concealed under the seat.

It's only the disc that's permanently attached (the mount is removed with the device) and if you want to hide that it's easy to throw a cloth or a map on the dash.

I also always leave my glove compartment open, so it's obvious there's nothing worth stealing in there.

Thanks for the excellent pictures, Anita. Seeing yours somewhat less than level and not all stuck gives me plenty of hope for doing a similar trick with Almostaudimetallicsilvervan when it arrives in just over a month. I'm not sure how much space I've got on it though - funny instrument cowl and sticking up radio display. I shall see.

Wazza_G thanks for your concern. But I leave my mounts (all 3!!) on the windscreen permanently and it's only cost me one side window so far (the devices weren't in there). Sorry, I shouldn't be flippant - it wasn't a cheap experience. But with three plus mobile phone to shift every time I quit the van, it's enough of a bother to fit them into my gilet multiple pockets, without having the game of unsuckering the mounts too - plus I wonder how long the suckers would last with my frequency of use and desuckering? But I am a member of the group which recommends all members to remove all traces of satnavs from their vehicles - sad old hypocrite!

Dennis, it may well be the solution if you can't fit all three devices to the windscreen of Almostaudimetallicsilvervan. As you've noticed, mine is far from horizontal and it isn't all stuck down, but it's quite secure, so I would think it would suit many awkward situations.

Let us know how you get on when the new van arrives.

Don't worry, Anita, I can fit everything on the windscreen (3 satnavs, mobile phone and a suckered notepad). Just that some of them might be better closer to me. My problem is dashboard space - the instrument cowl takes up all the space in front of me, with just a small space to the right hand side, then there's very little space elsewhere. Like your Ka, mine has no flat surface anywhere and most surfaces are full of stuff like air vents and switches. I don't fancy the satnavs mounted on the vents, mostly because I feel they'll be too far away from clear sky to give reliable satellite signals (that's if I had enough vents!). I suppose I could really do with external aerials for them all (then I could look a bit like MikeAlder, festooned with zillions of kit!)

I certainly find it better to have my satnav closer to me than on the windscreen, and I don't like it on the air vent. I have to take my eyes too far from the road to look at it if the directions aren't clear from the spoken instructions, and I consider the vents to be there to circulate air, not to have things put in front of them, blocking the air flow from the car and delivering hot air to the back of the device when the heater's on.

Laughing

I'm not sure whether that should be taken as sarcasm or flattery, Dennis. Confused

Just ordinary flattery. I did change the wording to try to make sure it didn't look wrong - forgot you're a southerner softypants and might misinterpret it. Twisted Evil

Ok, Anita.

But leaving a cloth on the dash on the same place is a giveaway that it's hiding something... It's also very easy to forget to put it there.

Also you are still attaching something to the dash which leaves evidence of a sat nav, I also suspect it also leaves a horrid sticky residue or mark when you remove the disc Mad, the best way to attach something would be with a form of clip, preferably with a thin foam backing to aid grip, easy to fit & remove & will leave no marks.
