Have a read through FAQ #8 on This Page, make sure Windows Explorer is setup as per the FAQ information and try again, if it still fails it could be the new card is either faulty or has insufficiant read speed to work correctly in the device - Mike

I would try using the TomTom instead of the card reader, Until recently I didn't have a reader and have never had any problems using the TT itself to copy entire cards.

Did you mean you made a FOLDER called 2GB?

The idea is:
Make new folder on desktop
Go to TomTom drive in Explorer "Select all" and "copy"
Go to new folder on desktop and open it
"Paste" everything into it.
Put new card in TomTom and open it in Explorer (if it won't open, you need to work out if it has got a messed up format)
OPEN folder on desktop and "select all" and "copy"
Go to TomTOm drive and "paste".

DO NOT DISCONNECT until you have waited for it to finish AND clicked on "safely remove hardware" in the system tray next to the clock and waited for it to tell you it is OK to disconnect.

Also if the above doesn't work try copying it in batches of 0.5GB or so, this may help. I sometimes find my comp falls down when trying to copy large amounts of files.

I think the card has some how fouled up -- it wont do anything now --the PC don't recognise that a card is in the reader.. and if you can do propertied it came up with a blue circle as if the card is completely full -- if you try to re format the card it don't want to know...

Both the card and the reader got quite warm -- I don't know if that is normal??

I think it is B**gerd

Maurice

PS
I did make the folder on my desk top - and saved all from the 2 gb and tried initially to copy them all -over to the 4 gb - but it didn't like it.
So then I tried in small bits -- great until the last lot then it all locked up and wont do any thing now..
The good thing is that my original 2 GB card is OK so I can still use Tom !!

Try putting the original 2GB card in the TT so all is 'as normal'.
Then connect to the PC fire up Win Explorer and try a copy/paste everything to that folder on the desktop again.

At least you'll know THAT bit of the process works (and you'll have a new full backup too!)

If you're feeling brave, you could then try putting the new card in and see what Windows makes of it in the TT.
