I don't know if this is what you mean but try Tools | Batch Convert.

Well spotted, but not getting anything but a good collection of assorted error messages so far!
I think it's just finger-trouble, but no help file I can find...

I looked there... no mention of batch conversion.
Their forum seems to have died too. Crying or Very sad

Which version are you using? Mine is the latest 2007.

Also 2007...
On the "about" page it says v5.1.0 build 210 in tiny writing at the top.

To make myself clearer, I've tried putting a new filename in the destination file window and I've tried putting the path to an existing .ov2 file in there.
Both times I get "Extension ".ov2" of filename does not match selected filetype" or "source and destination filetypes are equal".

I can make it convert several files from .ov2 to .csv etc. but just can't get it to merge several .ov2s from one folder into a single .ov2 (anywhere).

You're right.

In that case Batch Convert doesn't mean Batch Append. Evil or Very Mad

I can feel a few experiments coming on. Laughing

Right. Here's what I've found out so far.

The workaround is to download the CSV Files. These can then be loaded in to the Batch Convert and it will combine all the Files to produce an OV2 File.

The irony is that if you download a full CSV category with all the sub-categories combined, (there is no limitation of sub-categories with CSV Files), you only need to drag the Unzipped File to MakeOV2, and Bob's your mother's brother.

When I started this thread I didn't think that it would generate such an interesting discussion. I also thought that combining sub files into one category would be a great benefit. (And writing a .INF file is a useful way of adding additional items to the category provided by TT.) However, I now find that there are disadvantages as well as advantages. It's ok for, say, fuel as it doesn't matter which type of petrol you are directed to; but in the case of restaurants or hotels or DIY or many other items it is important so discretion is needed as I don't see any easy way to combine, say, 'hotels' and still know the group to which they belong. (Or have I missed a trick?) So the limit of categories for the TT ONE is going to become an issue sooner than I thought. Also the need to be selective in the POIs added will be an issue. It's also a pity that there are so few POIs for foreign countries such as France. (There are also huge gaps in the coverage for Northern Ireland - Often the nearest location in a selected category or outlet chain is listed as being in Scotland, while I am aware of shops etc within a few miles of where I live that could and should be included.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice and the help I've received from this forum in learning to use my TT to the best advantage.

If you use the combining function with the POIs download from this site, it will prefix the location name with the sub-category name. Wink
