I'm afraid that I agree with Dave that this sounds like a problem with your card. The only way to verify this is to try an alternative one. The very fact that it is a Sandisk means that it is going to casue all sorts of strange issues. Sorry there is no simple fix here

A new SD card of a decent type will, when coupled with the new SD driver that it sounds like you've successfully installed, really improve the memory performance of your system. Not only should it make lookups of addresses and similar quicker, but it can speed up route planning quite significantly!

The Sandisk SD cards are a pain - so many brands rebadge Sandisk, even brands that are normally respectable for memory cards (such as Lexar). They just don't work that well.
