They don't open in POIEdit.
I've had a look in Notepad and the CA ones have nothing readable as text, but I'm pretty sure now that they are NOT actual map corrections but updates to the built-in POI categories (the numbers sort of match what Home downloads).
The PA ones, on the other hand, had snippets of recognisable text that show they are records of POI updates *I* have sent to them. |

Hi Guys,
I think I've found a few more Map Share Files.
I compared the original file structure to the TomTom after a map share update.
I found these files.
DeletedPoi.dat
DeletedPoi.local
MapServerPatch.dat
ServerLineIndex.dat
ServerNameIndex.dat
MapUserPatch.dat (this was in the original backup but the date modified has changed).

I've had a reply from TomTom about the CAxxxx.ov2 files:
Quote: | Customer (Andy_P) 04/09/2007 04.30 PM
Having used Mapshare for a week or two, I have noticed a whole load of new files cluttering up the map folder, with names like "CAxxxx.ov2" and "PAxxxx.ov2". I've already got 54 of the CA files and 2 of the PA ones. These APPEAR to be updates for the built-in POI categories and possibly map corrections? Please can you confirm what each type does?
TomTom:
Thank you for your reply and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, this is a current problem with Mapshare which we are aware of, although a solution is being worked on. We have no specific timeframe in which we expect this to be resolved, however, this should come in the form of an application update via TomTom Home, so, if a frequent Home user, you should be offered this update as and when it becomes available.
With Best Regards

Andy one point I have found from comparing two backup's, last week I had 58 CA****.OV2's plus 6 of my own and 58 PGPSW .OV2's.
Doing another backup earlier this morning, the 58 CA****.OV2 files has gone down to 55 (I haven't removed any) but interestingly the dates on all 55 match yesterdays date when Home updated.
So it would seem that (Home/TomTom) control the number of but that it is also overwriting the previous rather than continually adding more.
Still doesn't solve the 100 limit problem as I still have a total of 119 .OV2's on the unit, even though I have removed all the PMobile files for both the UK and Europe.
The only work round I can do at the moment is to remove all the Europe speed related .OV2 files leaving the .BMP & .OOG files, then replace then before the next Europe trip. _________________ Graham.
