To be honest as the unit is under waranty I would send it back, I have taken PDA's to bits and they are not easy to get appart let alone back together, the only possible thing you might find and be able to fix is the soldered connections between the GPS and main board (the soldering of this in the pdf you sent looks pathetic, to be honest my 7 year old son could do better)
In my opinion the chances of fixing it by openng it are very slim, what I can say though is if you open it = no more waranty, and they (the supplier) will soon work out you have been inside it. Find the box all its contents and receipt then get it sent back to wherever it came from.
When you get the unit back repaired if its running WM2005 and working leave it alone, WM6 doesn't offer much in way of a difference from what I have seen - Mike
