On the border between England and IOW - right on the coast keeping a beady eye on your sinking island.

My exact location is covered by the Official Secrets Act, so I can't tell you unless you know any friendly civil servants who may wish to sell this information Laughing

...but my roots are up in t'north on the nicer side of the Pennines, not the side where their roses have no colour

I'm between Portsmouth and Southampton - so within easy reach of your sinking island.

My father-in-law and one brother-in-law are ex matelots too - one brother-in-law is still serving Queen and country

Sorry it was only a joke - if you read the rest of the thread, you might understand the banter.

I'll do my best not to stray off topic in future. However, I've seen worse, so you'd have to apply the rules across the board and delete a host of other accounts.

Yes, I guessed that Laughing

But I was also making a point that maybe the rules of this forum might be abused from time to time, seemingly without comment or punishment

Also, where do you draw the line at drifting off topic Question

Three areas covered - difficult with just black text on a white background, no facial expressions or voice tones to hint at how posts should be 'received'

You would have a sense of humour failure if you lived between Southampton and Portsmouth too Andy Laughing Laughing

...and my quote of MaFt in my post was a tease to.

We WERE drifting off topic somewhat though.

With a face like mine, you need a Censored good sense of humour, believe me Exclamation

Perhaps we should all move to Cumbria - it looks like there will be plenty of scope for free PGPSW membership:

Now speed cameras look set to appear on every road in the county with two or more cameras positioned at known black spots.

It sounds like there'll be enough new cameras for us all to claim free membership...unless they're all mobile cameras, in which case we should avoid the gold rush.

The 'Welcome to Cumbria' sign will be replaced by this one:

Lets face it folks I aint ever going to get free subscription living on the Isle of wight am I?...
Its 15 miles wide and 24 miles long and already has 12 cameras so there isn't room for anymore!
Can't we have a ploughing competition or a carrot crunching race or even a sh**p sha**ing competition so I have a chance of availing this free subscription?
I know its not that important to have a speed camara database on a small Island but I do visit England every couple of years (once I have saved up the ferry fare).
Please consider my request administrators, thank you.

Why not take advantage of one of the many free services, which you might get as benefit of membership of motoring organizations, or government agencies.

Like the AA or RAC??? why? If I break down i could walk home from just about anywhere on the IOW .
Joining the RAF isn't such a bad thing I guess...its the only service that send its officers into battle and leaves the lads in relative safety!!
Anyway we all digress , I could whinge till the cowes (get it) come home but theres no freebie for me this time.
