Just a quick note to add,
knowhere on MY TT One packaging does it say anything about only mainland. It says, UNITED KINGDOM and REPUBLIC OF IRELAND. In caps as that is how it is on the box (No I'm not shouting !)

DennisN:
Did you just drop a line to TT re the map upgrade, I guess as the unit is new as of 5 days ago and the new maps appeared on the 17th of April there should be some argument for them...

Tried TT home to upgrade the unit, seems to want to upgrade Quickgpsfix then fails as it is trying to install something in the package that it says it doesn't want Confused

Don't want to go through all hassle of swapping the unit for one visit to
Jersey especially as I've opened all the sofware etc now, bit of a pain after that...

On a different note (so much for quick Embarassed )

I'm trying to use my Orange M3100 for traffic on the free trial.

Has anyone else tried it ?.
It seems to need the phone actually with screen ON to work I suppose it can't wake it from standbye pity as the phone needs to have a charger lead plugged in to keep the display on, also it apears to stop traffic updates if you are on a call, no multi tasking on 3G !!
And finally, sometime the bluetooth switches OFF on the phone when I turn of the TT ONE !!, has anyone noticed similar actions...

Cheers Phil

Thanks folks,

looks like I'm a little stuck on this one... Not a lot I can do now I've bought it. I'm sure though that there is no mention on the box about not having the islands which is a bit off of TT.

If bought from Tesco, they accept returns up to 28 days inc sat nav products,BTW Medion GO Pal (£99.97) has full postcode coverage of Guernsey & Jersey.

For how often I'll be going to Jersey etc I'll stick with the TT One, it was from PCWorld, one of the online specials buy and collect.
It was 139.99 so not a bad price....

I won't touch anything with the name Medion with a "Large barge pole".

It took me over 11 months to get a spare battery out of them for a laptop I bought... ( and I lost count on the emails and phone calls !!!)

Thanks for all the replies... Must find somewhere for a holiday covered by TT Smile

Phil

I have no idea what that means. There is no such a thing as "mainland UK". There is a mainland Great Britain which includes most of England, Wales and Scotland but omits their offshore islands. The TomTom map includes the signifcant driveable islands and also Northern Ireland, so it's a map of the UK just like it says on the tin. The Channel Islands are not, and nor have ever in history been, part of the UK.

AFAIK only the V2 Euro & Rider Euro (which are the only ones that use Navteq mapping) have these.

Hi idiot,

No it does not, as it uses Tele Atlas maps.

Apparently Tele Atlas has no intention of mapping the Channel Islands as it's not financially viable for them to do so. Evil or Very Mad

This is not a TomTom Issue per se but a map provider issue. TomTom are not the only ones to use TeleAtlas after all, even Google's Maps are TeleAtlas and miss coverage of Jersey.

Neither Jersey nor the Isle of Man are part of the United Kingdom and so any reference to United Kingdom should not be taken as including them. Similarly reference to Great Britain simply means the countries of England, Scotland and Wales excluding Northern Ireland.
