I always thought of the all singing and dancing extras as Handsfee for mobiles, Playing Mp3's, remote controls, that sort of stuff.

I think its a basic funtionc to be able to plan a usable route, what i find annoying is that it wouldnt take that much more effort to put it in, it wouldnt require any additional hardware , just a bit more code in the routing software.
